What does the team do if Dame isn't traded before the season starts?

The real question is, can Dame not sit out after his camp made threats about sitting out if he doesn't get to Miami? If he doesn't sit out, that would signal to other teams that Dame will show up and play if they take him.

sure, he can play for the Blazers, probably without eating any crow. I think most recognize the threat as hollow

and yes, if he plays for Portland, as I've been saying, it's the best chance the Blazers have to generate better trade offers

that's only 12 players. Obviously, the Blazers are holding spots open for a Dame trade, but if that doesn't happen the Blazers will have to add two players anyway. I think they have room under the tax for that

Giving Scoot the idea of tanking is like planting a seed for him leaving first opportunity he gets. Same with Shaedon.

If we suck, we suck, but play to win. Bronny isn't worth tanking for.

I think there’s zero chance he won’t be traded by training camp. Miami or Cronin will cave before then. My guess is it happens between now and next Friday, Miami has to figure out their roster and fill in the gaps before all free agents are gone. I wouldn’t be surprised if they sign Watford.

I agree. I think a deal will get done this summer. I still don’t think we will get equal value back. Joes just holding out to get as much back as he can but it’s going to be the Blazers that cave. Hopefully Miami can at least get us another 1st round pick.

Too damned many questions and alternate questions in this thread. It's almost as if we don't know our ass from an NBA hole in the ground around here. My thoughts, for the absolute zero they're worth:

If this thing drags out, Dame sits. No point in risking an injury that blows his value to pieces. I'd tell him and his agent that the Blazers are still open to trades that reflect his value to the team, but that Joe's going to continue to work potential trades that may make Dame want to reevaluate his decision to ask out. I'd play Nurk, because his value around the league is pretty low anyway so it's not a huge risk. Maybe working with Scoot and Ant actually works better for Nurk. Ant, Nurk and future firsts would still be available to look for an OG-level player who would fit with the team's needs whether Dame stays or goes.

TBpup and I were talking about this. If Dame isn't traded this summer, and Joe continues to pause on free agents and trades, what does the team look like in game 1?

We lost Eubanks, Knox, Watford, and Reddish. We haven't added anyone except our rookies. Scoot, Murray, and Rupert.

Do we play Dame? That seems risky. What if he gets injured?

Do we play Nurk? Who is the backup center right now? Reath?

I think there's a very good chance that Dame isn't traded before training camp and I'm really wondering what our rotation looks like we're still in this holding pattern.
