TAIYUAN, Midwest China, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- Former Houston Rockets' guard Bonzi Wells arrived China on Friday afternoon to join Shanxi Zhongyu of the Chinese Basketball Association league, the club confirmed on Friday.
The 32-year-old agreed a one-year contract with the club and the details of the contract were not disclosed.
The club manager Zhang Beihai denied a rumour of 80,000 U.S.-dollar salary for the former teammate of Yao Ming, the most famous Chinese basketball player in the NBA, saying Well's salary is around half of the amount.
He's out of basketball, I can't remember where I read it (I think it was one of the ESPN chat wraps?) but apparently he's got such a toxic reputation that even Euroleague teams said no thank you.

40K a year. Wow. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

Hey, wait a second. I thought it was the Portland media who gave Bonzi a bad reputation?![]()
it makes perfect sense if you're looking for an excuse to bash himHe had a game for Houston last year, before he was traded, where he scored 20 pts in the 4th quarter. In the right situation, the guy can still play. And 40K for the whole season makes no sense. It has to be 40K a month. He doesn't love the game enough to play for that little.

Dude is 32, which is about the age lots of NBA guards find themselves out of the league. He was never the same following that first major knee injury that saw him shift from quality player to mediocre. Asshole or not, I'm sure if he could produce he'd be in the league. He can't so he's not... whatever
