God just typing that makes me sick. Yeah, theres a problem here.... a big one. No size and our centers aren't close to returning. If Nate and company really intend to play LA basically all game and hope camby holds up.... they are just plain stupid. I again cant fathom what the BLazers were thinking this summer knowing joel and oden would be out. How do you not sign a quality big when we were already soft there?

Looking at the season, I anticipate much of the same as last night. Cunningham is a SF who cannot guard PF's. Once again... same old story. No muscle around the basket, no easy buckets, and who knows.... maybe we will be this years hornets. Oh and Roy who still decides he doesnt need to score in the first halves and then starts playing when the game is over. Not to mention he looks like a rich mans Grant Hill at this point.

Dwight Jaynes also nails it with this gem.... The Blazers, meanwhile, continue to go through the motions of a motionless offense paying no more than passing attention to setting good screens or rolling off them. Nic Batum, a budding star if you listen to a lot of people, is being turned into another Martell Webster, if you ask me. He’s mostly getting stuck with corner jump shots from a stationary position. Nothing is being run through him and he remains a periphery element rather than a key building block of the offense.

Really, I’m not yet seeing much improvement over what we saw last season in what really matters — the team’s style of play. I’m hoping people understand that merely getting players healthy isn’t really going to be enough to get this team deep into the playoffs. Basic improvements in the way this team plays must be made on both ends of the court.

To answer your question: You stop posting. That would be one simple way to make life better.

that doesnt fix the blazers problem that a 2nd round russian center handed them their ASS NOT ONCE BUT TWICE!

My wife and I noticed (over and over) that they had no problem pushing us around in the post, and it was obvious why: when Aldridge was playing center, he was standing out at 16 foot range shooting jumpers... leaving Dante to try to defend the post and grab rebounds... the real issue was the lack of offensive rebounds in those sets. Did someone forget to tell Lamarcus that he was playing the 5?

Actually, Fesenko is a Ukrainian. But otherwise I think you made some good points. I'm not too concerned about the center situation yet and i don't think anyone anticipated that Oden's recovery would be so slow, but I do share your concerns about lack of growth in the offense and especially not developing Batum's role in the offense.

I don't think it was all just the height difference, although that was was a factor. He got to the rim off of pick and roll plays that the Blazers shockingly couldn't defend all evening. The Blazers also couldn't box out to save their lives.

Mixum, where did you get to see the game? Was there a channel showing it that I can ask for at the bar?

I kind of wish I could see us getting owned by a 7' Uk-russ-ian. I haven't found a way to see any games yet. Then again, if the Blazers and Comcast think they don't really count, maybe I should take their lead. Maybe you could, too.

oh sorry brian... i got that sense from listening to the BLAZERS PLAY BY PLAY GUY WHEELS (BIGGEST HOMER OF ALL) AND FROM READING THE FUCKING BOX SCORE EINSTEIN.

Fun, let's play Box Score games.

1. LMA owned everyone on the court last night, if you're playing Box Score Basketball. 22/4 rebounds. I'm sure he would've had more, if we shot more than 61 times.

2. Lots of free throws, on both sides, so it doesn't look as if we couldn't stop someone and resorted to fouling, unless they did the same thing. (Double ownage?) Happens that way sometimes in Box Score Basketball.

3. Seemed like we were within 3% of their FG shooting, but lost by 25% in 3pt shooting. Maybe, instead of your thesis that our bigs got owned by a Uk-russ-ian, you could say that we were owned b/c our perimeter D couldn't stop their shooting from deep. Happens in Box Score Basketball.

4. Forget I said anything about perimeter D. Reading the box score tells me Deron Williams only had 15 pts. We must've shut him down! (Oh wait, that was in 24 minutes, making him miss only one shot and giving him 8 FTs. Maybe not).

5. Kirilenko had 9/5 without missing in just 16 minutes. Extrapolated out, that's a 27/15 in Box Score basketball!

6. The reason I said something about watching it on TV is b/c I've heard Wheels on the radio while watching a game. He doesn't (most radio guys can't) describe things like motion in the offense, how people are moving off the ball, etc. Maybe you're able to pick up the unspoken vibes through the ether, but I can't. Therefore, I make sure I can see (and post pictures, sometimes) of things I see about the flow of the game. I don't say "I heard it on the radio".

BTW, Wheels takes offense. Barrett is the biggest homer of all, and it's not close.

ok brian lol... the blazers bigs out played the jazz bigs. fesenko sucked. dunate shut him down.

lmao

That's what I'm asking...how do you know that Dante was even guarding him?

I mean, when I look at the boxscore I see that Kyrylo played 22 minutes and Dante 25. Maybe they were matched up. But then again, Fysenko had a +/- of +11, and Dante had a +/- of 0. That means that 11 points of Utah's lead came when Fesenko was on the court while Dante wasn't. And since he had 17 points... :dunno:

That's why I watch the games before making conclusions and then overreacting because of my conclusions. "Reading the fucking Boxscore" tells me that Dante shut down Paul Millsap and Al Jefferson, holding them to a combined 7-16 for 20pts and 8 rebounds. I'll take Dante defending two good PFs and holding them to that. "Reading the fucking boxscore" leads me to believe that LMA's porous defense let Fysenko score on 7 of 10 shots, which isn't news to me and isn't a huge problem b/c he also scored 22 and we're a bit short on big men, so I don't want to bench him.

Still wanna "read the fucking boxscore"?

wow just wow. "R A D I O"

Wheels said dunate was having "trouble" with fersnako

What is so hard to understand here? Did you think Bayless was covering him?

which is the point of my entire thread....

THE BLAZERS CANNOT DEFEND PF's OR CENTERS when CAMBY is out. This is a HUUUUUUUUUUGE PROBLEM.

As a true die-hard Blazer fan, does this make you happy or sad?

makes me mad they havent fixed this issue but im glad you agree

Oh no we lost a pre season game! The whole basketball world is being turned in it's axis as we know it! :ohno:

:devilwink:

I don't know. Neither of us saw the game. What's "hard to understand" is the contention that somehow, when Fesenko was in the game his team outscored the Blazers by 11. When Dante was in the game, it was even. Therefore, either Dante got destroyed by Fesenko and then destroyed someone else equally when Fesenko was out (possible), or it's not as big a deal as you're making it.

Not that I expect our backup "stretch" PF to defend opposing centers. If the problem we have is that our backup stretch PF can't guard 7'1 guys, I'm ok with that.

BTW, looking at the box score I see that there was a grand total of 22 minutes this game (out of a total of 240 possible) where there was a Utah Jazz player taller than 6'9 actually playing. You expect me to believe that it's a problem with Dante Cunningham that Fesenko scored 18 in those 22 minutes? ANd that we have a huge problem guarding other bigs? Who were Camby and LMA guarding in their 57 minutes? And how did they do? Did Wheels tell us that?

Are you saying Steven Hill or Randolph Sykes should've played instead? Or do you want Dampier? Who are you planning to pay-and-cut so we can get some more depth guarding backup 7-footers during the preseason?

i would 150% sign dampier. no brainer.

and la i dont count because he stands 16 feet away from basket. hes the softest big in the league. camby will get hurt. we are really in a scary place.

Quit Bumping your Gas Ass Threads. You weren't even at the game, stats don't tell the story, sorry BUD

my god its amazing how many blazer fans have property in fantasy land.

meanwhile reds fans are selling at great prices.

Oh, come on, Muxmut. Every fan knows we might have issues. Wait and see how the season begins to unfold. You only get to cry wolf so many times before your voice becomes simple noise.

Now, go take a nap and dream of the Blazers drafting D.Will and Durant instead of the what ails-us.

Not even a 5-game losing streak in November would worry me.

The NBA season is 6 months long. At one point last year the Blazers looked to be in big trouble with Oden and Przy out.

Then the Blazers got Batum back, traded for Camby, and next thing you know the Blazers went 18-8 before right before the playoffs started to get 50 wins.

I'm not going to get worried about almost anything before the AS break, unless of course Roy is out for the season/Adlridge/etc, something catastrophic.

I totally disagree! His voice has been noise ever since he's been here!
