What if Thibs is available?

The front office of the Chicago Bulls have downplayed reports of a strained relationship they have with Tom Thibodeau.

But people close to Thibodeau expect him to be fired this offseason.

Thibodeau's propensity to give what some may believe to be excessive minutes to some of his players has been an issue with the front office.

Thibodeau also was not happy with the firing of Ron Adams, among other issues.

It mentions Ron Adams - but wasn't that last season? This looks recycled.

HOWEVER: if Thibodeau were available then of course you should gauge interest. He's easily a top 5 coach and probably top 3.

I think it's easy to think of him as a grind-it-out coach (you know, like the one in Memphis, who's killing us) but he's given big minutes to people like DJ Augustin (and totally revived his career) as well.

Thibs over Stotts easily. Defense wins championships.

He's done great with a decimated Bulls roster. He's one of the better coaching talents in the league.

Thibs would be a great get.

Too bad he's going to OKC.

Thibs is probably done because they want to hire Fred Hoiberg to a much cheaper contract.

I honestly don't think Thibs is going anywhere. That team is coming together right at the perfect time. They are my "Darkhorse" to win it all. If they win today they will have won in the first round with a sweep. If not they will most certainly take it in 5. They will get a giant series against the Cavs. the winner of that series i say will get to the finals. The Bulls are a good team.

Thibs is getting outcoached by Jason Kidd right now

Absolutely YES. Even if he doesn't know how to coach offense at least he knows defense. We'll be improved on the defensive end and at least draw equal on the offensive end. Knowing 50% of the game well is better than knowing 0% of the game well.

If he couldn't coach offense, the Bulls wouldn't score many points. When they didn't have anyone who could score, they played stifling defense and won games. When they do have guys who can score, he plays them. He started Carlos Boozer right up until the end.

You don't coach for decades and not learn plays for both ends of the court.

I don't get emotional over basketball like some people in here. Nice attempt at humor, though, I suppose.

Isn't 50% of the game offense? So, with that being said, Stotts knows 50% of the game. Therefore, Stotts would know 50% of the game and Thibs would know 0%. I mean, just seeing your logic here.

I think it couldn't hurt. If he can make the blazers elite defensively, the blazers healthy are already pretty potent offensively.

I know coaches don't like to give too many details in interviews, but I'm beginning to think that Terry Stotts may actually believe that all the blazers should do is "make more shots" to beat the Grizzlies. Which is kind of sad when you let a team beat you 10 times in a row. Terry's "make shots" is Nate McMillen's 'scrap'.

I suggested this a while ago. These rumblings have been around for a while.

Stotts knows offense in the same way that McMillan knew defense - not very well.

If Olshey hired Thibodeau, I can actually see that as a major selling point for Marc Gasol. Not to get crazily excited over nothing...

He's 1-0 in the 2nd round.

:dunno:
