Seriously I can't remember a player with such a fragile confidence that if he misses his first two shots he's done. He reminds me of Boone at the free throw line. Helpless. :(
 
I would start Stromile at the 4. He's better than Boone and Yi as a true 4 in my opinion. He's got more range than Boone if he needs to hit a 15 footer and he can hit his free throws better. And he can score better inside than Yi, rebound better and block shots better. And he's a better defender than both of those guys, especially Yi, obviously. I think he'd be the best compliment for Lopez down there. Now go ahead and laugh, everyone.

Whats wrong with Ryan Anderson when he got starter type of minutes at 33 he produced 21/9/2. When is the last time Swift did something like that, if ever?
 
I agree that Yi is not getting it done. But against the Jazz he played only 17 minutes and had a plus/minus rating of +7. He was not the cause of that loss.

Coach Frank thinks Trenton Hassell is the best choice as the Nets crunch time PF.

In fact he was a +15 at one point then he brought it down in the second and third qtrs in the short time he played. In fact with the nets leading 27 to 7 after one qtr how many points do you think Yi gave up?? (he scored 0 btw)

Started first 6 1/2 minutes and had a +12.
Cam back in around middle of 2nd quarter played close just under 5 minutes was -3.
Started second half and played 5 1/2 minutes with a -2.
Didn't come back until the final minutes and was 0.

He wasn't the issue with this loss. The reason they lost was because they couldn't hit wide open shots and they weren't attacking the seams to get into the paint. They were intimidated by the blocked shots. Kirilenko turned that game around all by himself. The only person that kept consistantly attacking was VC.
 
I thought the game was turned around by the Utah players being scared.........Scared because Coach Sloan was tossed. They didn't want to face him already pissed off especially after a loss. They had to win or else. After Sloan got tossed they came right back and won..

They were coming back before he got tossed. Was just a 6 point game at the start of the 4th which is around when Sloan got tossed. Game turned in the 2nd quarter. Kirilenko made a big difference.
 
Jazz were able to cut the 20 point lead to 15 by the 5:00 minute mark of the 2nd quarter because the Nets were missing wide open jump shots (Dooling missed two 3's and Hassell missed an open mid range jumper) they also turned the ball over a couple of times and Lopez had his shot blocked once. The Jazz were also able to get to the rim and get like at least 2-3 second chances scores.

Then at around 5:30 minute mark with the Nets up 15 the Jazz went into a zone defense and the Nets offense continued it's collapse. Carter missed a jumper, Yi missed a jumper. Nets were able to get it up to 14 again a the 1:32 mark with a Harris driving layup. But Jazz were hanging around with points in the paint and 2nd choice opportunities. Nets then got into the penalty and that led to Jazz free throws while the Nets offense continued to sputter with Simmons missing a corner 3.

So Jazz were able to get back into the game in the 2nd quarter because:

- Nets missing wide open jump shots
- Jazz scoring in the paint + 2nd chance opportunities
- Jazz zone defense
- Nets in the penalty leading to Jazz free throw opportunities
- Nets turnovers

not that he does it on a regular basis or anything, but stro has had plenty of games like that in his career. his career high is 31 btw.
 
Yi sucks, why can't we just all agree that Yi should be the goat for every game Nets lose? I mean he's Chinese, WTF. He should be the goat.

His nationality is irrelevant. He's being criticized because he's playing like garbage, not because he's Chinese.
 
I'm starting to think that if Yi was American he would be our 10th man.

Really? I mean overall he wasn't that bad, but he was landlocked on a couple of posessions, he looks lost on offense. this does not look like a player who can improvise. he needs to open up his game without the pressure, I don't see how that will happen.

if YI was american he would not lost in the game, he can't involve in to the game because he is a stranger, he is not a super star, he is just a second year rookie, his american teammates don't trust him. he has all the tools, but his mindset is not ready.
 
Chinese players are garbage. Euros are garbage too. Only dunking should count as points. You get 3 points if you teabag your defender.

Again, no one cares about Yi being Chinese. We care that his play is hurting the team.

speak for yourself. We don't like soft Chinese and Euros players. There is a thread next to this one that compares the 2. They both suck ass. We want guys that can DUNK. doesn't matter if they can't hit a free throw. that stuff is for softies.

No one said that. No one even came close to the assertions that you're making. You're making straw men argument and we notice.

We don't like Yi's game because it's not effective. Him being Chinese is irrelevant.
 
To all our new nets fans from abroad the way sports works in this country is based on production on the court. There is no race, or color restrictions, its all based on what you do on the court. Production is key! That is why there is no politics or other crap that affects the game. Its part of what makes the game pure.

The main reason Yi is being blamed is because over a 24 game stretch starting at PF he is very inconsistent and sometimes no existent. In 24 games he has had like 3 or 4 outstanding games while the rest he is horrible. This kind of consistency brings on the blame. VC and DH have a bad games they are blamed as well.

Stop comming up with excuses for the man, and allow his play speak for itself. So far his play speaks volumes as to why he doesn't belong as a starting PF in the NBA...

Sarcasm is half truth. notice I don't disagree that Yi is playing like crap. Chinese rumor is that he hurt his shoulder.

When your points lack substance, it's difficult to hold a serious conversation. At that point, it becomes necessary to hide behind sarcasm. No one can deny that Yi is playing poorly. Instead of addressing that fact, Malor would rather be sarcastic towards those who are objectively evaluating Yi.

You can hide behind sarcasm all you want -- but you are as transparent as water. It bothers you so much that people are criticizing Yi -- well, when people deserve to be criticized, they will be. His poor play has brought it on, not his nationality.

You keep bringing up his nationality, as if any of us care about it. It will not deflect from the fact that he has been playing like garbage.
 
Yi is just a kid, i agree he is not tough enough, the coach and his supported team need to do something, i admit chinese kid is fragile because the one child one family policy in china, the parents spoil their kid, but china has good 5000 years traditional culture, something like never letdown, is in the heart, in the clutch time, in the live or die situation, the magic would show up.:)
 
American players are garbage too if they play Table tennis, some other country players play table tennis in china just because the chinese boss want to earn money, so let it be, sometimes it just a businese. is Yi garbage? i don't know, who knows? just wait and see.
 
reading some posts I regret we traded for Yi. at least we would not have had that many quasi Nets fans.

Yeah, I also regret NJ being so close to NY. I'm stuck with the Nets on Yes network. Why can't we get a real team in NY.
