Look at the roster as it stands

PG: Dame
SG: CJ, Simons, McLemore, Elleby
Wing: Roco, Powell, DJJ, Nas, Snell, Brown
PF: ??
C: Nurk, Zeller

No way this is a finished roster. A lot of the wings are better fit as SGs. If I didn’t know any better I would think they were setting up a CJ trade.

Don't forget Mudiay, Beasley, and Faried

PG: Dame/Simons/Mudiay
SG: CJ/McLemore/Elleby
SF: Powell/Little/DJJ/Brown
PF: Covington/Faried/Beasley
C: Nurkic/Zeller

I give you your 2021-22 Trail Blazers

seeing what this team can do with chauncey billups is intriguing, but skepticism about cj mccollum is simply present, its been years of something thats clearly not working and hopefully neil olshey thinks the same, so he should shake up the roster, go all-in amd see how it plays out... cj mccollum for ben simmons is just a wishful thinking from out part, phila fans dont like that trade and neither would we if the roles were reversed and ben simmons is better player than cj mccollum by some margin and the only way this trade happens is if daryl morey & simmons want the trade at any cost! siakam trade sound more realisitic than simmons trade, but even siakam has more value than cj mccollum and im not sure they need cj mccollum as i dont think raps will compete next season, so it would probably be a three team trade and the most realistic scenario is cj mccollum for tobias harris, which probably isnt upgrade in terms of quality, but it would balance the roster a lot, wed finally get a legit wing with size and powell would move to his natural position... id be good with either of these trades, but id prefer siakam, then simmons and then harris

No it's not in the works. Philly want to see us fail so we are forced to trade Dame. They aren't about to help us.
That is a bitter and fucked up way to do business and there is no chance if they are stonewalling Neil now that they'll be the team out of all the teams in the league that gets Dame. CJ fits that roster so well and if we just give them CJ and our entire draft arsenal picks and swaps, with the assurance that they will not get Dame in a trade from us regardless. I just think it makes too much sense for Morey and he won't be playing childish games just to ruin us when it won't benefit him.

Not to mention Neil and Morey are friends...

I agree with that and if it's true I'd blacklist Morey for all eternity with the Blazers FO.

Obviously it's just not the way a GM can conduct business. Every other GM in the league would think he was being a prick and would put the screws to him in the future... because it would cost Neil his job and wouldn't net Morey Dame. Teams will wait to see if Dame will demand a trade when he gets back but I don't think he will right away especially if Neil tells him that teams think they're waiting for him to be available. I think Dame could easily send a message through his agent to the league that he's not playing for teams that are trying to force him out and it could open up things. Morey is probably waiting to see and if he hears that Dame has demanded a trade he'll try for him and if he hears Dame is giving it a shot here... then the CJ trade will get made.

Morey isn't trying anything nefarious, he's probably just got Neil in a holding pattern as due diligence. Dame getting back and saying some shit to the media like, "Everything's normal and I'm just getting ready for the season and trying to win a championship here." Will break the gridlock and we'll see both Simmons and Siakam moved... hopefully Simmons here and if not hopefully we get Siakam. Regardless of if it gets us what we need it will break the gridlock because Simmons for sure isn't starting the season with that team... not with Embiid and Doc.

Or maybe Neil knows his time here is coming to an end and will trade Dame to another team, then become that teams New GM when Portland gives him the boot. #backroomdeals

Either the ever occurring "20 games" benchmark (that never means anything) or never.

I mentioned this In another thread but noticing all the 1 year deals I feel like Olshey talked Lillard into running with this team and Billups this year and if it doesn't work then go nuclear next offseason. I believe Blazers only have 3 players on contract after this season so they're be a lot more flexibility.

Any GM that trades for Dame isn’t losing their job.
Unless the agent deals directly with the owner. Im sure it happens behind the scenes all the time, now that super star players have so much pull on where they want to go.

but what players got 1 year deals, zeller, mclemore & snell lol (nba is filled with players like that, you can find them every season)

powell got 5 year deal, nurk will get 4 year deal, cj mccollum has 3 year contract, dame lillard has 4 year contract, those are our best players

I'm just saying the only players on the roster right now that are contracted past next season are Dame, CJ, and Norm. I'm not saying anything about the talent they signed because of course I would like better players but most Free Agents will either want multi year deals or are ring chasing and I think not having anyone other then those 3 signed is 100% by design.

well, nurk & roco will be free agents next summer and i think we have their bird rights and i assume portland will offer contract extensions to both of them, then you have four rookie contracts (simons, elleby, little & brown), thats 9 players and all others (blevins, gilles, rhj, djj, zeller & snell) are not that important, they can stay, but they can leave easily

in reality, we have 7 players that have value (dame, cj, nurk, powell, roco, simons & little)

For sure they could extend them or they could not.. just saying the flexibility is there. Just making the observation that it feels like Olshey is more focused on next off season rather then this one and Dame might be fully aware of that. But non of us know what's been said between to 2 of them, all speculation.

honestly get the feeling we're done until the trade deadline. i foresee a trade of DJ + pick either for a backup PG or a backup wing sometime between now and training camp, but that's about it.
