Ok, I've been trying to stay out of this, but to keep up to see where this is going. As I see it, there are posters going around in circles over the following (what I count as "Facts" or "Observations", though others may not).
1. KG talks a lot of trash. (Personally, I don't have a problem with this, it's been going on forever. Gary Payton and MJ were masters of this.)
2. KG hasn't (to my recollection) been in a single "fight" in his entire career. He's sucker-punched teammates, and thrown the first elbow or shove, and has (like Peeler) someone throw the first 'bow, but never had a "you swing I swing we swing and wrestle" brawl.
3. KG throws illegal (according to NBA rules) elbows following rebounds, pushes following dunks on him, etc. Rarely is this called as a foul on him. Many times he puts his arms up in that "look, I'm not doing anything" pose.
4. KG taunts the opponent frequently after a play. I personally see very little difference between the KG "Cat" move and Mutumbo waving his finger or Oden hanging on the rim. With the exception that the last two were correctly called technical fouls, and KG's was not.
Now for the less concrete portion: I don't like players who play by showing up others. I don't like players who cheat (practicing fraud or trickery; violate rules dishonestly). I didn't like Laimbeer, I think it's dishonest and against the rules when players "flop". But the difference is that when, say, Divac or Ginobili flops, they're only cheating. When Laimbeer sent a blatent forearm shiver, or CP3 punched the kid in the nuts, or Bruce Bowen sticks his foot deliberately underneath a jump shooter, or K*be elbows others in the face after they shoot a jumper, they are suspended b/c they're attempting to injure another player, not "gain a competitive advantage". KG doesn't get suspended for those type of things, and people defend his right to do it b/c he's wearing their laundry. I don't like that. He's no worse than Laimbeer, Malone, Bowen, or K*be. But he's no better for some faux "competitiveness" garbage posters may want to spew. And the fact that he gets away with it is another downcheck in my book. Maybe I belong in the 50's. But I would submit that the average paying NBA fan is closer to my sensibilities on this issue that yours. Perhaps not in Boston.
