What it will take to get Stotts fired?

Broussard:
Chris Broussard: “I’m not saying this will lead to a championship, and Terry Stotts has done a very good job in Portland – that’s undeniable, but I do think they have run their course with him. You’re only going so far with two small ball-dominant jump shooting guards who do most of your scoring. You would have said that about Golden State in 2014, but what did they incorporate? More movement, and Steph and Klay didn’t dominate the ball and they didn't over-dribble. They need to find a coach who can get some sort of motion offense because they really got talent.” (Full Segment Above)

SVG chimes in:

Wish I knew more about Nate Tibbets. The man has paid his dues. I just don't know what the players think of him, what he's good at, etc. Sometimes teams ignore their assistants...when all these HC's were assistants at some point.
He's been our defensive coordinator this year...we were 27th in defense....David Vanterpoole had us in top 10 on defense.....that tells me Nate isn't turning the defense around here. Nate McMillan would be a better defensive coordinator in my view

Van Gundy is dumb. The blazers aren’t a number 3 offense because of Stotts, it’s because of Damian. Lillard had one of the greatest offensive season in recent memory. He led the offense night in and night out with no adjustments made from Stotts. Stotts literally doesn’t do anything. He let the offense play to the strength of Damian, this is why Damian seemingly is always passed out past the first round of the playoff

Well, according to some people here, we had a better playoffs this year than last year. We weren't swept out of the playoffs so for some reason, that makes us better I hear. When you win a series, it doesn't count.

If that were true, how did we score a playoff high 122 points in tonight's game WITHOUT Dame?

.... because the Lakers only really cared the last 5 minutes of the game. It was never in doubt.

I didn't see that. They took the whole game very seriously. We just hit a high percentage from the three point line to keep us in it but LeBron and AD were so good (like all time great good) all game long and we couldn't keep up at the end. It wasn't like they sucked and then flipped a switch.

I looked at what happened the last 5 minutes and they cranked up their defense, I don't think CJ hit a bucket, and it was just a different type of game. I'm not taking away from the scrappiness the blazers showed, but the Lakers effort was much much different when it came actual closing time.

A healthy team next season that either misses the playoffs or gets swept out of the first round... I just don't think it happens. Also when Dame retires or if Jodie, the Vulcans etc. decide to make wholesale changes like firing Olshey, Terry and demanding big roster moves.

As per above, CJ scored 36 points.....had a very nice night.

....and the the Lakers decided to close out the game. CJ didn't score in for the last 8 minutes. In the 4th quarter when it is game time, closing time, clutch time.....the Lakers locked it down and all of that scoring outburst earlier was laid inconsequential.

Nice to see CJ have a great game, but at CJ's last bucket, it was a 3-point game. 6 minutes later, it was a 15 point Laker lead.

OK, skip bayless.

Not even close. Have multiple times commended CJ on a great game. But at the same time, he did not score in the last 8 minutes of the game. I wasn't questioning his legacy, wasn't saying how lucky he got, or anything like that.

I get it, it sucks to lose, but I want to learn from the reality and hopefully not have the same thing happen again. (...and again....and again....and....you get the idea.)

Shit defense: Stotts. Great offense: Not Stotts. I’m not opinionated either way just seems inconsistent.
If an offense is good because of an bunch of 1v1 and pick n roll, that's not because of the coach. That doesnt mean the coach is automatically not responsible for their defense...

I think we had a really good shooting night. Especially Melo. He doesn't do that every night.

The PnR is a HUGE part of every NBA offense. So is 1 on 1 iso. Why does everyone love D’antoni? They just come down and jack threes? Is that offensive wizardry?

Because his teams get better when he takes them on? Stotts is a very poor man's Dantoni.

And underrated by the local message board.

We'll be having this conversation again next year!

Sadly, we will likely be having this conversation again next year after losing 4 in a row to end the season....or maybe get red hot and only lose 4 of the last 5......like the last 7 years in a row?

Portland..... where a .344 Playoff winning percentage gets you a lifetime contract?

....and Stotts had some kid named Dame. Perhaps that helped a little.
Nate had both Brandon Roy and Andre Miller...Nate just refused to develop rookies...he played vets into the ground
