Yeah, RJ has really improved on the boards, he proved that last year before the injury. But I would still prefer:
C: Nenad Krstic- Will only improve more this season. He was probably one of the biggest rookie surprises, if not the biggest, last season, nabbing an all-2nd team spot despite getting picked in the mid 20's in the 2002 draft. He's a pretty good rebounder, too, and he can score well inside.
PF: Marc Jackson- A veteran compliment to Krstic. Though he isn't much of a defender, he's a good inside player, and a good rebounder.
Why not Cliff?
Uncle Cliff is just too old for a starting spot right now. I don't think he's capable of playing more than 15 mpg per game anymore. Even though he is still an excellent defender, he can't give us much more, other than outside scoring, which we don't need from a big man this year.
Why not Veal(Jason Collins)?
JC just doesn't seem to improve too much every year. He's still a smart player, but he's just not talented enough. And at nearly 27, he's slowly approaching his prime, which means he won't get too much better, even if he does improve suddenly. I don't expect him to get more than 8 and 6 in a starting spot, and he's too weak to bang with the good crop of power forwards in the east, like Jermaine O'Neal, 'Sheed, Webber, Bosh, and even Haslem. I think JC would have a more appropriate role backing up Nenad.
Why not Tractor Traylor?
Tractor isn't a starter. His role is more of a 6th man type of guy, getting some boards and points off the bench. I can see him sharing backup minutes with Cliff and maybe take on a more important role if somebody gets fatigued or injured.
SF: RJ- He's still young, and still improving. He had a clinched spot on the all-star team last season before his injury. He's a very well-rounded player and an athletic one at that. He can pretty much guarantee us 20, 7, and 4 a night.
SG: VC- IMO, Vince is just at good as he was 4 years ago. He's still one of the best scorers in the league, and one of the best dunkers ever. And when he gives his best on defense(which is happening more and more lately), he's a great defender, too.
PG: Jason Kidd- He still hasn't lost a step, even though he's past his prime, and he's still a lock-down defender and the most influential player in the league.
