Do they live in Portland?
If they still own stock in Nike, wouldn't the league block it?Yes.
Look, if they haven't relocated garbage franchises like the Hawks, Grizzlies, Pelicans, etc., they're never going to move a franchise that always ranks in the top 5 in attendance.
Nobody's job is secure. Whoever buys the team will have their own management team.I wonder if Olshey's position is a good deal less secure without PA.
From a Bald Faced Truth interview with Paulson in 2015:
"Said Paulson: "Look. If Paul Allen were selling the Blazers, would I be interested? Yes. I don't think baseball is something that has a future in Portland for a variety of reasons. I think to own a baseball team in a non-major market -- in a market of this size -- I mean, you look at the way baseball is struggling even in Seattle right now, I just don't think that's realistic.""
You pay a billion for the Blazers you can move the team.
The Bucks went for over half a billion 4 years ago. The market has only gone up.
Especially with the Seattle Sonics debacle. Till this day the nba still gets bad publicity about that. It just won’t happen.
I don't trust McGowan to not screw us over.
Amoung those who were bidding for the Clippers:
David Geffen
Oprah Winfrey
Larry Ellison
Is Merritt Paulson rich enough to own an NBA team?
I'm winning it (by myself) and I won't have enough money to buy them outright. If ever I needed to win Mega Millions, it's now.
Its not his choice. It’s the NBAs like it wasn’t the Seattle money men’s choice when they were willing to write an open checkbook for the Kings back in 2013
Phil is 80 now - would he want to do this? not sure, just askinI'm not really into these type of things, but, could Phil Knight be interested or he already excluded the possibility in past interviews that I didn't read?

So you recognize that it hasn't happened but are worried that the NBA will just fuck over one of its best fan bases and lose a shit load of fans?Because it hasn't happened, it can't?
Seattle and Las Vegas are prime and probably begging for NBA franchises.

Seattle had a shitty arena, bad attendance, and all kinds of money problems. There is also such a thing as people learning from mistakes. That's why the Sonics are entering their fifth decade in Seattle!
What would be absolutely bonkers: Kobe Bryant buying the Blazers.
