What Olshey has done

I think its awesome that everyone assumes we could go down to All-StarMart and simply pickup an All Star to convince Lamarcus to stay. Its a lot easier if Lamarcus is helping with the process rather than sitting back saying "I want an oompa Loompa daddy buy one for me now!"

Yeah LaMarcus is just a bad egg

Agree with Schilly. If LaMarcus wanted to be in Portland, he could/should/would have recruited another running mate. But he didn't, and he didn't.

I don't know what Olshey could have done other than what he did, and I like the way he is playing the hand he's been dealt.

The game isn't over.

I have no issue with you; I just disagree with your opinions, and gave detailed explanation as to why. It's nothing personal. This is just the nature of open forum discussion.

Well OK, I thought the whole I don't care or pay attention or understand process was an attack but I guess your way of making a point. Not bothered by it just thought you had some issue with me, thanks for clarifying.

And for the record; I don't pretend to know all the answers and said I could be wrong about Olshey, just a fan who is not that impressed with what he has "done" But like I said this is all his roster now and he has been given a pass on the LA situation so he now has the time and resources to show what he can do as a GM.

I don't know if there is anything Olshey could have done.

I do know he was trying to tell fans he wasn't sure LA was gong to leave after already trading Nic and an insider (Hughes) coming out the next day saying LA is gone and Blazers are going young. So hard for me to believe anything Olshey says . . . like when he gives an interview basically saying he couldn't do anything and LA screwed the Blazers.

Who knows what conversations happened and what if anything could be done. Just know LA is gone and Olshey is blaming him for the rebuild. All fans can do is hope Olshey can rebuild they organization to being relevant again.

I'm of the opinion that you can not believe anything a salesman says while still benefitting from his ability to sell things. So yeah, we might get some smoke blown up our skirts, but at least he's on our team.

For all we know, the Blazers Ownership/Management felt the team had peaked, they didn't want Lamarcus back, they didn't want to pay all those big contracts for a team that wouldn't seriously contend, and this is playing out just the way they planned.

If so, I'm good with that, too.

I agree, that could also be what was going on

What i find interesting is usually when a disaster in an organization occurs like this a GM or head coach is gone. In this case all the blame has been put Aldridge with ownership/management/GM smelling like roses. Again maybe rightfully so, but I find that interesting.

When contracts are all built to expire the same year, from mostly previous GM's, then wouldn't they get a pass?

Neil said it all clearly..whether you like him or not. They had a 3 year window to contend with this group and it ended with Wes going down. Had that one thing not happened we'd have kept the old core together. He wasn't going to give max deals to aging guys who were not good enough in the end. Middle of the pack playoff teams, which we were headed for after Wes crashed. We couldn't beat the Spurs and we couldn't beat Memphis the following season. What he then did was go out and get some youth and better defenders to build around Dame..all makes sense to me. Having a superstar HOF player doesn't always work. Melo, Kobe were not difference makers the last few years. Fans need to start looking forward and finding value in the roster we're building. It's over. New chapter.

Yes Neil does says a lot things clearly.

So if Wes doesn't go down, LA re-signs? Blazers resign Wes and Lopez even if LA leaves?

I get that LA leaving means not re-signing Wes and Lopez. Not sure LA re-signs if Wes doesn't go down.

I guess I could go on and on questioning if NO is all that, but I see where all this is going.

I've said what I have had to say about him, don't trusts what he says but personally haven't decided if he is a good GM or not yet. No point going on with this when in the end I want the Blazers to be successful.

Peace All!

Fuck yer couch!!!!

I am of the basic opinion that all GM's are far too heavily criticized for what didn't happen. In fact from a fans perspective I literally can't even begin to know where or how to judge on what didn't happen, as we never have full details of why things didn't happen or if they were even available to happen realistically. So much of what didn't happen is speculation, hypothesis and flat out armchair GM's throwing ideas at the wall . I can judge on moves they have made when they have control. As such I really can't fault Neil for Lamarcus leaving. I could judge him on trading Batum, letting Wes and ROLO go and the signings. as his plan unfolds I have mentally braced myself for a bad season, but I think I see where he is going and I agree with his methodology.

Davis and Aminu have 5 years under their belt and Henderson 6. What honestly makes you think they are going to have a break-out season now?

Aminu JUST HAD a break-out playoffs. He'll probably start for us. He's primed and ready for a break-out season.

Wasn't Rolo like 6-7 years in the league before he came to Portland? Wasn't he just a "meh" player? I seem to remember him breaking out.

I get your point but that ain't an end all. If you can find the right mix of talent, they all can help each other to break out.

Rolo was a "break out" player? Why didn't we re-sign him then?

Why ask such a silly question when you already know the answer? Trolling? Are you just arguing just to argue? The reason why Fropez wasn't re-signed is in multiple threads throughout the forum.

Yeah pretty much trolling. It's funny seeing how much the Olshey fanboys contradict themselves though.
