After the Harkless trade I really started thinking about what Neil has done with this roster. Essentially he has positioned this team perfectly with a solid foundation of talented hard working young players, most of them have already proven they belong in a rotation in this league. In addition there are a couple players with huge upside but need to develop and may or may not pan out in Vonleh and Montero.

All in all this team built perfectly to add another top tier player to via the Lottery this year or free agency next year. The bench and rotation is solid, we just need to add one more All Star caliber piece and we have IMO 2 years to do so, then it's all out gunning for the title.

I absofreaking love the way Neil is orchestrating things in the wake of being ditched by Lamarcus. He's setting up one Hell of a lemonade stand.

I'm liking it too, but we really need one of non-Lillard youngsters to break out into star quality and a couple more into solid starter material. Olshey has set us up for a chance, but that a pretty difficult challenge. Personally, I see Myers, CJ, Vonleh and Davis ad the most likely to make those big strides, but Pat, Hark, Al-F and Ed all have an outside chance too.

I don't know any more. Is everything to us Blazer fans the best of all possible worlds?

And all this action while he's actually not only sitting on his thumbs but sitting on them in Tahiti

He's a fantastic horrible GM, the worst best we've ever had. Everything he touches turns to shit gold. I am very happy angry with this summer's moves.

I shit gold after a night of drinking goldschläger

Aminu
Davis
Harkless
Plumlee
Project Pat

All 25 or younger but they all have one thing in common: they can't create their own shot.

Lillard and CJ are the only players currently on the roster who can. It'll be interesting to see how Stotts uses this core.

Olshey is being patience and logical. He isn't just trying to throw a roster together like a lot of GMs...the sly Son of a bitch is building something marvelous.

IMO he's collected young talented players that haven't developed yet on other teams and is hoping 1 or 2 of them turn into either a starter or productive role player. If youre rebuilding this is a great way to do it.

For the sake of discussion take this team and add a high Lotto pick to it.

This. Exactly.

Aside from Dame and Aminu, we're ties to nothing for more than 3 seasons.

Lillard might be the only player on the roster to average more than 30mpg next season. Every other position is more or less even

After that it's not going to matter who starts. Whoever is playing better that game will get the minutes.

We will be three seasons, OR MORE, away from being a playoff team. Not acceptable.
That's the way it is. This isn't Candy Lsnd. Talent is rare and you pay a premium for it. Olshey is doing the best he can given the circumstances. Don't have high expectations as a Portland fan. Dude. You'll just be dissapointed.

I rhink ao far this was at least an interesting off-season, Olshey has gone an unexpected way but I applaud him, I think it might work.
I think a good season would be above 10 and best-case scenario we have a better record than last year.

I hate it too, but explain how we could avoid it. LMA didn't want to come back, and other than Dame, the rest of our team was built to coexist with LMA. We have to rebuild and hope some of these young guys deliver on their potential. I'm inclined to think Neil is doing the best that can be done for us at this point.

No it feels much more like Chutes and Ladders!!!

Actually, I think what some people are missing is that we have zero bad contracts, tons of cap space, and a star. That is why we are not rebuilding. Rebuilding involves waiting for years or giving up a lot of assets to get you 30-year-olds contracts removed from your cap.

feel free to be miserable about it. Personally I like to find the positives in what is actually going on so I can enjoy the process.

I am completely on board. I'm going to enjoy this season; and frankly the real team will look pretty darn good after watching these summer league games.

This will be a long season, but we are most assuredly a bottom 5 team. I think the next draft is top-heavy. If you are going to tank, this is the year to do it.

Olshay's needs to get an impact FA or player via trade next summer though.

How old is Gallinari?
Do we take a shot at Syracuse?
Try and reunite Mason and Miles?
