What the "experts" are saying about Blazers vs Nugs

As someone who has ducks that are runners and don't fly, I completely understand. There are also a few types of fish that are not considered "swimmers"...
Not to mention that there's serious debate over whether or not water is actually wet...

I like that I see a few posts in this thread starting off with, “I’m no expert, but....”

Yeah, no shit, FAMS. We got it. You’re on S2. Seems a bit redundant. Thanks for also letting me know water is wet. Fish swim. Birds fly.

So what’s it like not being able to pick up on basic humor?

I’m an expert. Bonafide!

I AM an expert and because we have such a horrible coaching staff, we lose this series in 6.

I think you're forgetting someone...

Campazzo is like JJ Barea on steroids. And he's a big game player:

Don't direspect NBA Champion, Lebron destroyer JJ. Campazzo is good, but not Barea on steroids.

4-1 but 3 games will be very tough. One, we blow out and one, they blow us out.

I do not see them blowing us out any of the games. Will take a series victory any way we get it though.

You going to any of the games? Want to go with my son but he just got his first shot Thursday. Hoping they have a vaccinated section so I can buy single tickets and it be closer to a normal game experience.

i think we blow them out in game one. Games two and three are close but we win. They blow us out in game four and we win a tight game five.

I doubt ill go. I just got my second vaccine shot yesterday but like you? I want a full section packed or the feeling isnt the same. The big draw of the games is high fiving strangers after a good win, crowd noise, etc.

Without that, my game viewing is more fun at home. Especially if masks are required everywhere and i cant by some gut rot slices of pizza, etc. lol.

depending on the 2nd round matchup, i might go to that if possible.

the other issue is, in years past i had first rights to my seats and didnt have to try find seats. Now its a timing thing.
I checked for the last game against Denver as soon as they opened up to 10%. I couldn't find a pair of tickets next to each other. i imagine the playoffs will be that much harder.

Well, if those are our only options, it's got to be Dame. There's no way you're the best player in the series.

Did you see how he came in and changed our season in the last 3on3 tourney?

listen. We made a change in the offseason aNd brought hail in and bam! we won it all.

I dont think you are giving @HailBlazers enough credit for his game!

However i still give a slight edge to Dame...

No. 3 Denver Nuggets vs. No. 6 Portland Trail Blazers
Scout’s outlook: “Even without Jamal Murray, Denver’s very good. They’ve been great without him. Yes, you’d rather have Murray, but they have the best or second-best player in the league (this season, Nikola Jokic). … I don’t think anybody can guard him. He’s too good a passer. …

“Those two Portland guards (Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum) are going to be an issue for anybody, and probably particularly for Denver. Denver doesn’t really have a shot blocker. But I just think Denver’s so offensively potent. That’s going to be a lot of scoring, right? Those teams are two of the best scoring teams in the league. I think it’s going to be this: Who’s going to score last? …

Michael Porter Jr. is one of the up-and-coming stars in the league. … In the absence of Murray, they need Will Barton.

“I’m going to give Denver the edge in a six-game series. Murray, Porter and Jokic? That’s a team to be on for the future. That’s the future. They’ve done a great job personnel-wise. Porter was an absolute steal. That guy’s going to be an All-Star. … Their personnel (moves have) been excellent. Tim Connelly knows what he’s doing. …

“(The Blazers) just don’t have enough depth. They’re too reliant on Dame and McCollum.”

Coach’s outlook: “I’m going against the grain a little bit here. But I think as wacky as it was (in the bubble) last year, and although there was no real home-court advantage last year, I do think you’re gonna see some guys — because of the fans (now being there) — not being able to perform on the road in tense pressure situations. And I think Denver is going to have quite a few of those types of guys out there that, other than Joker (Jokic)
and a few other guys, haven’t seen that stage.

“I think Portland has pretty good collective experience together. I think they’re hitting their stride at the right time. They’ve won 10 out of 12, and I think Denver is going to really, really struggle to guard Dame (Lillard). I love Joker, and I think he’s one of the top MVP candidates. But I think he’s going to get exposed in pick-and-roll coverage, and I think it’s a terrible matchup for Denver. If (Portland’s Jusuf) Nurkic can stay out of foul trouble, I think they’re going to have a really good chance to be able to win the series.”

Executive’s outlook: “Jokic is top one or two (in the) MVP voting. Everything is going to run through him. And what he’s done, and what (Michael) Malone has helped figure out the last month and a half without their dudes, has been super impressive.

“I just think the Blazers’ firepower at the two guard spots, and the continuity around those guys and knowing who they are, is going to trump that — barely. I’ll take the Blazers in seven. They obviously have confidence against this Nuggets team as well, winning in seven a couple years back. I think it’s going to be a dogfight, but I’ll go (with the) Blazers in seven.”

Scout’s pick: Nuggets in six
Coach’s pick: Blazers in seven
Executive’s pick: Blazers in seven
Consensus advancing team: Blazers

“(The Blazers) just don’t have enough depth. They’re too reliant on Dame and McCollum.”

I pick Denver to win, but I find this comment kind of weird.

Denver is missing Murray and Barton (basically 33 points a game), and currently have only 4 players averaging double figures.

Portland has 6 players currently that average double figures (Dame, CJ, Powell, Anthony, Nurk and Kanter), but the top two on each team average about 52 points and 46 points (I rounded up for both). But that is going off of their seasonal averages as I suspect that Porter Jr upped his average since Murrary went down.

Yep, not taking into account the last 2 games (one was an easy win and the other the Nuggets didn't really try), Porter Jr is averaging 25 ppg in Murrays absence.

So, that genius scout is saying Portland relies too much on CJ and Dame (about 52) and isn't deep (not saying depth is the blazers strength mind you) but that the (checks math) 52 points a game Jokic and Porter Jr average is NOT too reliant?

The difference is also a whole 4 more shots a game "reliant" on CJ and Dame.

Are we sure that "scout" doesn't have "cub" in front of his title?
