What the hell is going on with Mo?

Reality of a final season. He's wearing out.
 
It's not surprising. His cutter has looked less than sharp. How about all those tack on runs we have failed to score over the past month. This season can't come end fast enough.
 
Well gang I became a Brett Gardner fan when I saw BG get a GWRBI off of Papelbon in '08. Have always thought he was a damn good player. After Mo blew two saves and Gardner came through I'll bet Mo is a huge Gardner fan as well.
 
This is all Cashman's fault. He should be getting rid of this Mo guy. He has been terrible..three blown saves...my god why didnt we trade for a closer before the trade deadline?

"What's wrong with Mo?" I'd say 19 years pitching, being 43 years old & FINALLY showing that he's human. If Mo blows 10 saves & Jeter hits 220 for those 2 guys I'll still be happy that I got to see them play.
 
I prefer to think that Miggy who is arguably the best hitter in baseball today against the best closer ever and near greatness beat greatness. The HR Miggy hit friday was a foot inside an was ridiculous that he would even swing at it. Greatness was on display today at Yankee stadium. In addition, we won both blown saves opportunities this weekend. They can ask Mo how he felt about blown saves the day he gets into Cooperstown.
 
First time in his career he's blown 3 straight saves. Earlier in the season he lost a lead/game to the Mets and it was the first time in his career he blew a lead while allowing 3 straight hits without first recording an out ...or something like that...maybe it was the first time he lost a lead (and game) in the same inning, without getting a single out...something like that.....don't quite remember the exact distinction. His cutter is flattening out much more often...it just might be time for the Great Mo to bow out.

I just hope his LAST major league appearance is a post season save.

no doubt about it being happy to have seen them play... it's just sad to watch the end & know that they aren't going out on top like they should...

I somehow highly doubt that...

What do you highly doubt? I said I HOPE his last appearance is a post season save.
There is NO DOUBT about that...I know what I'm hoping for. lol
If you have doubts about Mo's blown save vs the Mets than check it out...let me know. I'm not quite sure about the particulars but I believe it was a unique stinker. (for him)

I hear you hammer but many of the greats go out on a down note.

Mantle battered 237 in his final year. Mays battered 211, Jackson 220 & Aaron 229 in there final seasons. just to name a few. And pitchers Bob Gibson went 3-10 with an era over 5 in 1975. And Seaver went 7-13 with an era over 4 in his final season of 1986. It's a shame, but it happens.

He's given up more hits than IP this year, something he hasn't done since his first season, a very long time, he's losing it, not the same old Mo, he picked the perfect time to go out, just hope he can have one more good run before it's over, go out on a high note.

35 saves for a 43 year old on a bad team. I'd say that's a pretty high note in itself.
 
^^^ rick, I know how you love to post about your disdain for some of the stats and rules as they apply to players...I was wondering how you felt about the fact that Mo came in last night, gave up 2 HRs, blew the save,...but was given the "W" because Gardner hit a walk off HR in the bottom of the inning?

...I figured that you'd have a field day with that. :lol:

Honestly I left the house after seeing him blow the save so I didn't know he got the win. My stance on such a thing remains the same. Getting rewarded for something you had nothing to do with (in this case a win) is ridiculous.

Seaver's last year would make him our #3 starter this year lol.
