What To Do About Flopping?

You cannot have any kind of in-game penalty for flopping unless you have a challenge/review system in the NFL has, where a coach has a couple challenges a game.

The refs need to be the ones held responsible. The players are just doing it because they get the call. If the refs stop calling it, guys will stop doing it because it leaves their team playing 4 on 5 if they do it on defense, and it often becomes a turnover if they do it on offense.

But, that probably won't happen since a lot of the flops benefit the guys that the NBA wants to market as its stars, so I guess we just have to bend over and take it.

Don't like this as refs call flops because the player fools them. It has to be on the players and their team as a whole.

To go further, flopping is cheating. Teams pick up 4-8 points a game doing so and it seems to be there needs to be stiff enough penalties to end it.

That said, when I player is hit and they 'emphasize' it is fine. It's the phantom flops that are irritating.

A flop is the official's fault EVERY time. The officials need to be held accountable. It is NOT the players fault EVER. It is and always will be the referee's fault.
NBA refs are lazy and I really am tired of going into the flopping issue over and over again when there is a simple fix. HOLD THE REFEREES ACCOUNTABLE.

The flop has been coached for ages in many sports. Jerry Sloan was famous for perfecting it when he was a player as was Phil Jackson and several others..Jordan and Rodman were good at it as anybody but doesn't make it right unless they really can sell it. Takes some acting chops to pull it off.

I'd electrify the floor so that whenever anything other than the rubber soles of a player's shoes touches it, they get a shock about equivalent to peeing on an electric fence. That should put an end to flopping.

I hate technical fouls and wish the NBA would eliminate them. Since that isn't going to happen - put them to good use for a change. When a player flops, call a double "T" on the player and his coach!

Flopping will stop when coaches see it costing them games.

The NBA needs more severe penalties. I think the public fines by the league are a change in the right direction. They weren't going to overnight drastically change the way basketball is officiated. But this is the first step in a series of moves to help the game. Next will they look at increasing penalties? Eventually players will probably be suspended. I hope these changes happen this summer.

If the league wants to call a physical game or ticky tack fouls every possession I'm fine with it, just make it consistent and a transparent process. The officiating is the #1 problem with the NBA and what really holds the game back from being more enjoyable to watch.

I propose a technical foul and 3. Then instead of a fine the player serves community duty for a full day at a veterans rehabilitation center where they can push handicapped people around as their porters. This way they can understand there are people less fortunate than themselves, especially the vets who do not have abilities to walk or use their torso. Only Adam Silver could initiate that concept.

I do think it is a start but I also think you would never see a charge in the NBA anymore in that scenario. Ref's aren't going to call something that could be even close to a flop. They are going to error WAY on the side of caution (for the sake of their pocketbook) That really hampers legitimate plays where there should be a charge call.
