Move Sharpe to small forward.
Ant is going to need to bring more in (a lot more) than Hart. I just don't see a deal out there that is fair for Ant. Hope I am wrong because I am not against moving him but it better be for someone who is on the cusp of all-star or has played in a game (not over the hill though). I don't see POR brass trading Ant unless it is a slam dunk.
I really like Hart on our team but something has to give, someone has to be dealt at the deadline for a big man. It is probably him.
He is on an expiring contract. Can we get someone better than Nurk and Grant for him? It is doubtful but at least by the trade deadline we will have a better idea about their current backups. If Watford, Walker, Winslow, and/or Saar look like they deserve those backup minutes then there is no need to trade Hart.
Move Sharpe to small forward.
I think that's what he'll end up playing
I would bet anything that if our guys are all healthy this year, Hart gets moved at the deadline. He's gonna be a FA and I think has trade value. And if Shaedon is ready for legit PT while we are in playoff contention, we might want to use Hart to recoup a pick because we will owe ours to CHI.
That was going in my head last night as well—we at least now know he probably would’ve dominated the college level.Counterpoint - everyone in the NBA world is freaking out about Wembyamayama and what he did to a GLeague team.
There's several guys who played last night for Maccabi who were in the NBA recently. Personally, I'm not watching this and saying he's ready to play right now. I'm saying we needed to see that he could play well against non-high schoolers. We needed to see some confidence.
Do you think the players on Maccabi are worse than a D1 school? I watched that and I'm positive he would have been a star at Kentucky. I think he would have been a top 3 pick this summer.
not a bad idea. Nurk + Hart for Ayton.I would just try to go back and get Ayton w/ Nurk and one of Nas or Hart to help consolidate.
I dont want to just gift him minutes but i also dont want him in the gleague. He will get plenty of action during practices going against nba players, which is what he needs. So Sharpe got us all excited carving up an Israeli-league team last night. Does that mean he can/should get minutes in the actual season? I say: not yet. We have a glut of guards and he's still too raw. I would much rather he went to the G-League (here's where we revive the complaint that we don't have our own team) and get 30+ mpg, than collect DNP-CDs on the Blazers' bench.
Walker, on the other hand, definitely should stay with the team. He's much more ready to contribute, and in fact, should be our first forward off the bench (ahead of Nas, on current showing).
A consolidation trade could very well happen before trade deadline.
Hell, they may decide to tank again for the once in a decade dude.
That sounds....um......inconceivable.My pipedream consolidation
Some combo of Ant Hart Nas Nurk Brown Eubank Picks for Butler Adebayo
Dame GP2
Sharpe Keon
JB Winslow
Grant Walker
Adebayo Watford
Dame/Sharpe/Winslow/Grant/Nurk
Ant/Hart/Little/Brown/Eubanks
That's what should be done with him. IMO.
Too early to start Sharpe, but long term I am good with that except I like Watford a lot. (Watford over Brown)
And I am intrigued by Saar. He moves well for his size
Question: why is it that something along those lines NEEDS to get done? Personally, I don’t think SGA is needed at all.The more I think of it, we need a consolidation trade. I still think Ant and Sharpe (let alone picks) is slightly too much for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander but something along those lines might need to get done at the deadline (not with those players necessarily).
I think if he's getting a good amount of touches in Chauncey's ball movement offense that Grant will sign a four year extension on January 6th when we can offer it to him.Elephant in the room. 3 of the big men projected to be in the rotation are in their walk year.
Little: my prediction is that he gets hurt again and the team (quite rightly) wastes no more time on him.
Winslow: probably not good enough to worry about, but if he is a pleasant surprise, he will expect more money. It only takes one team with a toxic offer to make him a cap albatross.
Grant: who knows. He could also price himself out of Blazers' plans.
Bottom line is pretty clear, IMHO. I like Hart. I would start Hart at SG. Sadly, he and Simons are our best trade assets. One of them needs to go to bring in a big man who will be here for awhile.
