What West teams are we definitely better than?

I think right now the answer is none.

1. Dame is in a George Clinton level funk.

2. Nurk is too young and immature to help this team take the next step.

3. CJ IS NOT A GOOD FIT FOR A BALL MOVING OFFENSE.

4. Lastly, something some of us have been saying for years, the roster is poorly constructed.

All that being said, it’s not a lost cause. Let’s see where they are mid season.

Right now we are not even at Play-In level.
....so a LOT of teams in the West are currently better.

The Blazers are one of only three teams in the West yet to have won a road game. (hapless Houston and OKC)

I don't really see it being an issue. Dame's struggles won't last all season, and even if he was slightly below average (instead of downright horrible), we would have been 2-1 on this trip.

I'm slightly concerned with how we're playing more than the final results at the moment, defense in particular. Didn't watch very closely, but the rotations look really and Chauncey admitted it's hard to blame the back-line defense when guys are getting beat in just one dribble on the ball. Sounds to me like he's calling out our guards, and I don't know how that can improve given our personnel.

Nurk is not that young anymore. Year 7 for a Center is mid-late career.

But ya, I've seen enough glimpses to be encouraged.

To me personal don't match what Billups what's to do. On offense Billups wants to push pace but you got 2 guards refuse to do that and on defense you must be longer at the guard position especially the 2 guard position. But Billups does have some players that fits the system but seems like there not getting the minutes like they should.

I don't think, given the the way they are playing now, they are clearly better than any team. In its current incarnation, this team would struggle with OKC, NO, and Orlando. They are playing that bad right now. I am sure morale is low as well. I feel awful for the team and Chauncy. No one expected the team would be better with Dame on the bench. Dame should take the next 10 games off to heal his abdomen; without the "league's best backcourt", most of those games are losses anyways. Funny, this is now one of the least impactful starting backcourts in the league.

So if you’re going by current standings, does that mean the Hornets and Cavs are better than the Bucks? Long term, the Blazers are better than most teams in the West. Last season, we tied for 5th and the roster is better this season.
What other standings are there? The future? 5 seasons ago? YES we’re going off CURRENT standings!

went from 23rd to 20th best, in one night!

you know, because early season records are such a great barometer for how good teams actually are…

Looks like we are as good as Milwaukie, the clips and Denver too.

Current situation:

Seems about right. Spurs will probably improve.

One thing that's changed (in the early going): we were a mediocre home team but one of the best road teams in the league last year. Probably the switch is to do with Dame's struggles - superstars get you wins on the road, whereas your lesser players are buoyed by the home crowd.

god, i'm depressed
Our time will come.. it probably won't be anytime soon but look at the Bucks and telling their fans 10 years ago they would win the championship and have multiple time mvp on their team. All it takes is an act of god in the draft.

Like Oden?

Ten games, new coach, new system, new rules, new ball and you dream about tanking. Fock off.

O, cool, you were dreaming about white Christmas. Mabad;)
I do know English is not your first language. I was using a subtle sarcasm. I did not use green font.
By the way you do very well on the conversations. I wish I was fluent in more languages.

I think portland can definitely take the best of 7 over Orlando, Houston, Detroit, the Pels, and OKC., maybe even take a series 4-1. It would take 7 games to beat SAS, Minnesota, Sacramento, and those teams fighting for a play-in spot. Any legit playoff team: no fucking way can Portland win a 7 game series.

For me it looks like there is something wrong with mentality of this team. Correct me please, but it seems that Nas is sole happy player out there.
Under Stotts, there were three happy people (center). It was Dame, CJ and Melo. They were happy, cos they had free entry to all the carousels in the park. Under Stotts they could just play their games and now, suddenly, after almost a decade, they have to work.
It must be really hard for Billlups to work with those spoiled kids.
It seems like there is not exactly roster construction that is the biggest problem.
I mean, they look like they are depressed old folks. And it is on them.
I like my work and, of course, I like to do things my way, but I got results.
Some players just want to play the game they like and it is ok when it translate to results. For almost ten years they play same selfish style and got same lame results. But they seem to prefer to stay there than work on it.
It's kinda stress free upbringing. It leads nowhere. Our leaders are spoiled.

You realize that if you expect the worse it's not any better when it comes, right? You don't nod happily and say "yup, I was right!" if you thought your plane was going to go down and it does.

doesn't every plane go down as many times as it goes up?
