A 2-year-old East Bay girl was Christmas shopping in a toy store with her aunt and grandmother. The child got separated from the adults, as small children will unless someone holds tight their hand (hard to do when filling a cart). The two women immediately searched and found her right in the next aisle.

On the floor, with a man raping her.

Customers pursued him and he was caught outside the store and arrested.

I truly lack words for such a person.

But at least he can join the military and enter a sacred marriage. If there's enough of him left when he gets out of the slammer.

It happens. I have 3 kids, and at some point, in some stores, they get away. It's literally as quick as you turning your head for a second.

I try not to keep charge of small babies. Or pets. I can't take care of them, I'd lose them pretty easily and unlike these irresponsible guardians, I can admit it.

You have a baby or small child you are looking after, you do not let it out of your sight. Especially a 2 year old. You don't let that kid run around a store unattended while you shop. What, was that 99 cent bottle of laundry detergent more important than a child? Its just like the parents who lost sight of their kid at the lakers game and he fell to his death. Obviously they don't have as much culpability as the rapist, but they do have some.
