One game is an aberration. They have been clearly playing better than earlier this year. If they play .500 rest of season that's an improvement. Can they build on it?

Luka isn’t only worth a first round pick. On the open market he would have been worth a lot more. The Mavs are stupid.

Enjoy it now while we can. Because I heard on the radio that we have the worst post All Star break record of all teams the past few seasons. I suspect that will be the case again here soon. Lots of mysterious injuries & we’ll be rolling out a G league roster.

Our schedule in February is pretty easy. March and April are brutal. So we will win just enough games to fuck us lol

Am I the only one finding a bit weird people that says "Luka is only worth 1 FRP"? Ok the haul is not great. But AD alone is probably worth a bit more than the 24th pick in 5 years.

To tell you the truth I haven’t a clue what the organization is trying to do moving forward. I don’t see any deals being made. If Luka only is worth a frp how are PORs players bringing anything back of value. aint happening.

A FRP and AD. Let's not pretend like AD was a salary dump or anything like that. AD is averaging 25.7 ppg, 11.9 rpg, 2.1 bpg and 1.3 spg. Those are all nba level numbers. Yeah, he's not the guy he used to be and I think it was a terrible trade for the Mavs but it wasn't Luka for a FRP. Also this is just too ridiculous of a trade to set the market. It's too big, it came out of left field. It doesn't make sense for the Mavs.

I don't know what Joe is doing. I seriously have no idea. I wouldn't be surprised if we do nothing at the deadline except a marginal move or maybe no move at all. I also wouldn't be shocked if Jerami, Ant and Rob were all on new teams on Thursday afternoon. We'll wait and see. I doubt Joe is making a lot of calls because he's probably pretty pleased with himself but he's likely taking calls and possibly quite a few.

I think a lot of teams are calling about Rob and any conversation like that might lead to a deal with a different player. So we will see but you might not be wrong about what we end up doing but I think you're flat out wrong for saying Luka only demanded one first round pick or that what the Mavs got for Luka is going to set the market for any other player.

Maybe. We had a run a few years ago where we won 5 out of 6 and then sat everyone to tank and we had more wins at the time than we do now. It all just depends on what Joe does at the deadline but more consequentially if Joe thinks this roster is enough to win big next year with just some tinkering around the margins.

Iff we only win six more that should put us at 5 or 6. The Sixers should end up with a better record than us and probably one or both of the Nets and Raptors. That being said, I did not see this recent run coming so maybe we end up in lotto purgatory at 10th. I hope not because that doesn't make a lot of sense for our future.

I could see us benching Simons/Grant/RWIII if they aren't moved. Do you still think we win that many games with Scoot/Sharpe/Tou/Deni/Ayton??

Not sure if they sit Ayton to tank.

I don't believe Cronin intends to tank this year. My hunch is he thinks this team is good enough to reboot next season without a blatant tank this season

As far as Billups being a good coach I’ve always said he’s a great motivator but I questioned his plays. Lately execution out of timeouts has been really really good. That’s normally a sign of a good coach (or assistant coach is drawing up plays). The ball movement has been a lot better ( although Ant still has times where he holds the ball way too long). We are also pushing the ball on misses and creating turnovers allowing for easy scores. But number one thing we’ve done is we’ve become a drastically improved defensive team. Toumani and Deni are both above average if not elite defenders so it’s made the game easier teams are struggling to score against us.

that said unless we could steal JKidd or another good young coach I’m ok with giving Billups another 2 years to see if he’s a good coach.

That is not a tanking lineup. Those players have been playing really well and we’d continue to play very well as a team. RW hasn’t been playing during this stretch and Grant missed a game. We didn’t miss either of them. Sharpe can make up for some of Ant’s scoring.
