I mean, it’s no different than people in Portland saying I don’t care for the ‘burbs, too white, too far out, blah blah blah.
For ME, what made Portland Portland is mostly gone. Too crowded, too noisy, way to much traffic and shitty infrastructure. Too much has changed and I don’t enjoy it the way I did. But I’m not going to begrudge or diminish anyone’s choice to live there. If someone is happy there, be happy, enjoy it. It’s not all bad, but what many parts of Portland has become doesn’t align with the things I value.
But the problems I see in Portland are problems happening in most big cities across America...
There are also people, like myself, who enjoy Portland but would rather live outside of the city, away from people. Not like on a 70 acre compound where you live in a bunker, but where your neighbors house isn't 3 feet from your house, and you therefore have zero privacy.
I hate that.
Doesn't mean I hate the city of Portland (or any major city).
