Astoria is the first “city” in Oregon, according to some; it’s seven according to others. Then Corvallis, LO, Portland, Eugene. Aside from where Astoria fits, the rest seems categorically agreed-upon.

you know Oregon is the white utopia, full of hate? Portland is known as the whitest “big” city in the US (whether it’s factual or not, several articles reference it as such). That’s our history.

You'd think if people didn't like it here they'd leave or not move here in the first place right? If real estate is going up the way it is, that tells me that through supply and demand, people like it here. I'm no expert though.

Its much easier said than done to just pull up established roots and move to another region/ state, etc.

It is possible for people to be unhappy about the direction of the city but still not want to, or don't have the means to just move away.

I did. I did it for love.

I uprooted from beautiful Bend, OR.....quit my job, sold my belongings, loaded up my truck, and moved to Tennessee. THEN I asked her to marry me. Fortunately, she said yes! She's definitely worth it. That said, I had to reinvent myself as it pertains to a career. I got my real estate license, became a commercial agent...and haven't looked back!

One of many reasons that real estate is going up is because speculators are buying houses to rent out to people who can't afford to buy a house for themselves.

Many people who live in Portland would love to get out of it, but also feel the need to live near where the jobs are. It's a tough dichotomy.

Well I love it so much, we are about to remodel and expand a TON on the interior of the house. Remodeled the whole outside 3 summers ago, now time to fix the fun stuff. We aren't going anywhere.

very nice. Was looking at homes in nc last night. Saw some real potential. Its the career change that is scary. Lol.
But i could sell my place and buy the equivalent back East out of our equity and have it paid for almost in full at time of move in.
Its getting harder to not get serious about it.
