Seriously, it seems they can’t afford anyone to follow the team.

I was listening to the latest Rip City Report and Joe Freeman mentioned he was not at the game Joel got injured at. But I was at that game because it was in Portland. Why is a beat writer for the Blazers at the biggest news publication in this state not at a home game?

Last month I saw Casey Holdahl retweet Jason Quick asking what the score was for a Blazer games. Doesn’t Jason Quick get paid to write about the Blazers?

This city has one or two (depending on your opinion of the MLS) major sports teams and our newspaper has more writers than two people. Yet it seems there is less coverage of them from the Oregonian. I don’t know if this is because print is dead or if these “journalist” are just being lazy. It is hard to tell.

Freeman is an FSU grad and was down in LA to watch their asses getting kicked during the Rose Bowl.

Maybe the organization is freezing them out until they can get some good quality beat writers.

They have game thread coverage in SoCal...El Pres and Denny and Mags seem to get on just fine...he could've just written about what we were saying and tacked on a "For the Oregonian, by Joe Freeman" to it and been just fine.
