After he turned 30 he seemed to go in rapid decline. He's not alone, though.
There are 192 guys in total over 6'8 in the league. There are only 20 NBA players over 6'8 and 31 years old. Only 10 who are over 32. Batum is 32 next year.
There's a great filtering around that age, and Batum's contract is the only reason he hasn't already been filtered, I suspect.
He might get a vet minimum 1 year deal, but I wouldn't want Portland to offer it.
yeah, he's getting up there in age for a SF
and he was always injured...never severe injuries but nagging injuries that recurred. IIRC, 3 different times, two in Portland and once in charlotte, he had to spend a good part of a season with a brace on his shooting hand because of a wrist injury. That probably explains why his shooting got worse and worse
