I hope Vonleh has a bit more balls than Griffin though.
that shouldn't be too hard

Derozen only has a year left, he'll get overpaid next summer, he's older and relies a lot on athleticism, he can't shoot, he's inefficient, and a below average defender.
Where as McLemore and Ross are young and developing, good shooters, at least average defenders, and we have more control over their contract situations.
Yep. Dame/Vonleh will be the second coming of CP3/Griffin. And with the Alexander/Jordan comparisons...I think we all know where this is going.
Oops, forgot about Vonleh. Should have said CJ/Biebs/Vonleh/Plumlee.I think Vonleh could be placed in he possible big 2 cue

In NO's wet dream, 2 of those players become part of our Big 3.
. Gonna be a damned messy, stinky bed though!
Not sure I want Calderon. I'm down for McLemore or possible SGs that are young with upside.I wonder if the Knicks want to unload Calderons contract. Id trade out a future 1st, maybe a little more to take on Calderons contract with the right to swap picks with them no matter how high their pick falls. I wonder how much it'd take to get them to go for that.
We'd use the cap space to buy him out. I'd take him on and send stuff out for the opportunity to swap 1st rounders with New YorkNot sure I want Calderon. I'm down for McLemore or possible SGs that are young with upside.
Wait, maybe I misunderstood then. So we have the option to swap our pick with them for this deal? If you say yes, then I am so down for itWe'd use the cap space to buy him out. I'd take him on and send stuff out for the opportunity to swap 1st rounders with New York
yeah. So if they won the lotto and we got 7th we'd still swap. I'd be willing to do something like:Wait, maybe I misunderstood then. So we have the option to swap our pick with them for this deal? If you say yes, then I am so down for it
This sounds great but I thought we can't trade our first rounder this year?yeah. So if they won the lotto and we got 7th we'd still swap. I'd be willing to do something like:
POR gets: Right to Swap 1sts 2016, Jose Calderon (future buyout)
NYK gets: Tim Frazier, 2019 POR 1st Round Pick (lottery protected), 2021 POR 1st Round Pick (Conceded only if POR swaps into top 3 and NYK gets swapped below 6th)
Basically you give up a first to greatly improve your chances at landing in the top 3. New York does this if they think they'll be better next year, because if the pick lower than Portland they essentially get a 1st round pick and to offload 2yr/$16M for free.
If we land in the top 3 we can pick then dangle that pick in trades for an all star in July (Something like Simmons, Vonleh, and Crabbe for DMC?) depending on who we sign, and depending on free agent interest. Itd be taking a chance that could put us back in contention in 2017 or give us a future all-star to a squad that might show flashes next year and could end up with 35+ wins. If we don't swap, the only lose a mid to late first.
Technically were not trading it... we're reserving the right to swap. If we make the playoffs and it goes to the Nuggets we don't have anything to swap, therefore we'd have no pick in 2016. But we should be able to acquire the right to swap if we keep it.This sounds great but I thought we can't trade our first rounder this year?
Sounds good. Kinda a risk since we are making the playoffs!Technically were not trading it... we're reserving the right to swap. if the Knicks were doing terrible we'd try hard not to.Sounds good. Kinda a risk since we are making the playoffs!

I assume their pick is protected. And why would they? To save $8M they'd have to pay, to create a trade exception, and gain a 1st round pick all for potentially nothing. The Knicks don't have next years pick; it goes to Denver or Toronto.
Why would the Knicks want to unload Calderons contract a month after free agency ended? That makes no sense. They can't sign any players with the cap space. Maybe the Knicks do a trade at the deadline or next draft day but not until they've seen their current roster on the court.
The Blazers missed their chance at using cap space for a great asset this year and will likely have to settle for small assets such as second round picks. Cap space has the least value its ever had in NBA history right now.
Knicks or the Lakers can light their cigars with $100 bills with all the money they make. They don't really care about 8 mil.I assume their pick is protected. And why would they? To save $8M they'd have to pay, to create a trade exception, and gain a 1st round pick all for potentially nothing.

Well New York really fucked themselves...No it's not protected. The Knicks agreed to pick swap it in the Melo trade then traded the worse of the swapped pick away in the Bargnani trade. If it's better than Denvers pick, even #1, Denver gets it if not Toronto gets it.
I think it's highly unlikely we see any big trades until we're well into the season.
Bishop to rook 3. Checkmate
Plumlee,Aminu,Vonleh,Davis,Harkless and a 1st rounder for Boogie
I don't give a fuck.
