unmotivated
last year we had a team of contract year players fighting hard for their future, led by a guy who was thrust into the drivers seat of a team which nobody rated to even make a dent in the standings.
we had REASONS to play hard and to prove a point, that motivation paid off on the court through effort and determination, and it fused the players even tighter together and fueled the fire even more.
those movitations were met after last season. we reached a level nobody anticipated (tick) and players largely had strong performances and that paid off in new contracts (ex-meyers cause he's fuckin useless and lucky)
all these 'accomplishments' aren't current motivators, all they have is the pure essence of wanting to succeed in the league - themselves, their team-mates and desire.
just about everyone is lacking in all areas of those 3 things. the foot is off the accelerator, the drive is missing, the finish line isnt what it was a year ago.
