He made a mistake, but he hardly killed the board. The choices made by people (admins and users, though only the admins should care since the users moved on) afterward is what killed the board.

I think he made his decision that he was done with this group the night that it all blew up. I don't think he's "lying low," worried about recriminations. I think he's just no longer interested.

Well, I'd say that any community can be a source of enjoyment or stress. A discussion forum is something you don't have to be a part of (like, say, family can be hard to avoid or work, or whatever) so if you're not enjoying it, there's no point participating.

Do you know Dan? Like, do you know him personally? Have you communicated with him in places other than BBF?

I do (kind of), and I have (on a regular basis). I would agree with Minstrel.

I don't see any self-proclaimed superiority except a position based in evidence and knowledge vs. one based in speculation and ignorance.
