Where is Jalen Rose?

Yeah, he's old and kind of crazy and he isn't fond of guarding people anymore, but he can help.

He can back up three positions reliably, which is something valuable to the injury-vulnerable Nets.

As long as his minutes are monitored, he'd be a nice contributor - not just a fill-in.

He'd certainly be a hell of a lot more useful than the Dickaus, Hites, and McLeods of the world.

It all depends on how exactly we use Hite, if at all, but there's no question he's the best multifaceted guard still available. I would take him over the remaining PG crop in the free agent pool.</p>

That's the truth.

They can use him like they use Jason Kidd.

He can lag waaaaay off the opposing player they want to shoot (Jamaal Tinsley, TJ Ford, etc.)

My thoughts are that Rose is a much better PG now than Robert Hite will ever be (not saying much), and that the Nets need a PG (with some versitility) much, much more than they need a risky backup who can only play one position.</p>

Also, I still don't buy this Allen Houston hype.</p>

I still think it's twice as likely Houston gets hurt in training camp and never plays a minute for any team than him becoming some kind of great contributor.</p>

Rose really isn't a PG, IMO. He definitely was at one point in his career, but now he's much more of a versatile 3 than a point guard. He can bring the ball up and initiate the offense, but he doesn't have great vision and holds on to the ball wayyy too long. The Raps tried Rose at that spot and the offense just became far too stagnant with him running things.</p>
