Where were you 5 years ago today, May 22, 2007, at around this time?

I'll admit it, I was raiding in World of Warcraft when my brother came upstairs screaming that we were in the top 3 so I got up left my room and went down to watch the end of it on TV.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAA! I don't even know what that is........ but it sounds like something a nerd would be doing in his spare time!

I was sitting in my car, about to go to class, and I let out a huge shout when I heard Atlanta at #3. I was delighted with either of them. (Just as I was a few years earlier, when we could have had the leftovers of Bogut/MWilliams/Paul, but obviously to a greater degree).

I don't think that the drafting of Oden was as big a mistake as drafting of Bowie. While it turned out that Oden was less valuable than Bowie, I believe that Oden was a superior prospect to Durant, while Bowie was inferior to Jordan. The Blazers should have taken the best prospect available both times, and we would have ended up with Jordan and Oden.

I remember scaring the crap out of my kids by jumping up and down in the living room like a lunatic. They truly though I'd lost it, and for a few delirious minutes...I had indeed.

And really, I have to ask if that feeling isn't all that much different from watching your team win it all at the buzzer? I mean, as far as a feeling of pure ecstatic, wild abandon.

It was sheer joy.

In retrospect--talk about the rug being pulled out from under. Wow

I do remember saying that I kind of wished we had #2 so we wouldn't have to make the choice, and I got scolded for being a wuss.

That's actually what Chad Ford (or maybe it was Simmons) said before the draft. They said we would have been better off getting the second pick because realistically Durant was the better pick for us, but that we couldn't NOT take Oden with the #1. I remember reading it at the time and somewhat agreeing with them. While I thought Oden was a great choice, I also thought taking Durant and keeping Randolph would be a good choice as well. At the time I thought a lineup that included Roy, Durant, Randolph, and Aldridge would be amazing.
