Which FA center do we land?

That would be ass-backwards...
There's definitely a reasonable argument for it if Plumlee has higher trade value, but Meyers provides for more skill-set diversity.

Our defense would be much, much better - not because Barnes himself is a "stopper". We'd have 3 athletic 6'8" or so guys (Aminu, Barnes, Harkless) who play defense and can switch reasonable well onto just about anyone. In this situation, we'd be less dependent on a rim protector.

PER is a meh stat as best.
Player efficiency rating is meh?

Sure. For instance, his usage rate is 15.9. He's a 4th option on his team. Who knows how much higher his PER would be if he were shooting as often as, say, Gerald Henderson did?

I wouldn't mind it if we signed Ezeli, then move Ed Davis to backup PF behind Meyers, with Plumlee as the backup Center and Alexander and Vonleh also getting some minutes.
We'd also have Aminu and Harkless playing PF in small ball lineups, iI think this could work. Maybe even make a consolidation trade after the SL.
We Would probably still have some money to bring another free agent or use in a trade

yes. I don't want to piss people off or go too far off on a tangent, but any stat that tries to compare apples to oranges is a mediocre stat. For example, what Deandre Jordan does is closer to being a volleyball player than it is to what Kyrie Irving does.

Ezeli never really stood out to me in the playoffs. But I really did not focus on him that much. What does he excel at? To me he seems very average.

That isn't a list.... that just says that Boston and Atlanta are the first "known" teams to secure a meeting with him.

And our front office doesn't seem to have any leaks outside of Neil leaking stuff to Woj once in a while.

I think he intentionally keeps things quiet, but tells Woj what's happening, so Woj can break the news first when there's actually something to report - like signing Whiteside.

I still think Olshey will try his hand at Horford and Whiteside before Howard. As we get closer and closer to July 1st, and the Blazers aren't mentioned as having a meeting set with any of these three players, I find myself wondering what Neil is up too...At first there seemed to be a large inclination by analysts for Horford, then Whiteside, and now the resignation that is Howard

If they're planning on signing Dwight, they might want to schedule a meeting with him first.
They are playing hard to get. Just call it a feeling. No Pizza guy thing or anything.

After Biyombo, I'd probably just keep what we got. Even Plumlee's better than Biyombo, but he brings things we desperately need in shot blocking and rebounding.

I'm also a proponent of resigning Leonard if its not at a ridiculous price. He's 3rd on my priority list behind Harkless and Crabbe though.

I think he's better than our current Centers, does a very good job defensively, a very team player, smart, moves well without the ball, does the little things, setting screens, etc.
I heard criticism about his game in the finals and maybe he still wasn't ready but from what I've seen of him he makes his team better, a good plus/minus player, and would enable us to move our other bigs somewhat down the rotation and make them more effective

Man, I hope to Holy Goodness it's not Whiteside. He's like if Biyombo was as old as people think he is, except without the track record of not being a knucklehead. ANd the small matter of his team being worse defensively when he's on the floor. Or leading the league in goaltending.

I don't think Dwight will come here, and I don't want to pay a 10yr max for him, but I'd absolutely think he was a better fit than Whiteside.

Frankly, I'd like to see us spend money on a shorter-term, smaller deal for Pau Gasol. But if he says no, Biyombo is likely the best fit of he, Howard and Hassan.

That's what I've been sayin

My biggest fear is that Whiteside has beasted for a contract, then will turn into JJ Hickson...I would hope our staff and roster could get him on the same page but he has that vibe about him. I'd almost rather give a shot to Larry Sanders on an affordable contract and see if it wasn't less of a risk

It's what immature players do

Old data. HW is no longer a knucklehead. He's been upgraded to moron. He'll improve as least to idiot, and maybe even average, in his 1st year as a Blazer.

Plumlee!

3rd in rebounding for all players in playoffs.

1st for centers in assists in playoffs.

That wouldn't be the worst possible outcome for the summer...as long as we get a dominant PF.

This... I love the Plumbster and want him back! Every time he does something good I look over at Mr. Spud and say, "He's got gigantic Plums doesn't he?" It just makes the NBA experience that much more enjoyable for me.

Spud is a female? Suddenly I feel uncomfortable posting in the nude

I have no problem with adding Biyombo, but what is your strategy for preferring a smaller deal?

How could I have forgotten the mighty Boban!? Check it out.
I would rate him pretty high. Once you get past Whiteside, Howard (not even going to mention Horford) and possibly Aldrich then I would take Boban. Plus it would be great to steal someone from the Spurs. If they don't get a big time free agent this summer though (and I don't expect them to this time around, honestly) then I think there is no way they let him go.
