For the amount of "the sky is falling!" kind of posts/threads that have been made lately (not just today), it's kind of funny given the team is 33-20, currently has the 4th seed and has a legit shot at winning the division. Yeah, Oden's knee is banged up. Yeah, Webster's still injured. Yeah, Sergio is still somehow ahead of Bayless in the lineup, Outlaw still chucks up ridiculous shots (and makes them in the 4th for some reason) and despite Fez's protesting, the Blazers still haven't fired McMillan. Whether people like to admit it or not, this team has played very well thus far, and is on pace to finish at or above the amount of wins a lot of people here predicted. Every team has it's faults, but complaining about things every time something goes wrong, especially when it's all you post about, isn't going to make things any better. Enjoy the rise of this team, bumps, bruises, and all.

I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to Geico.

You rock! Agree completely. I can't stand the "I know how to run a sports franchise better than these yahoos" mentality. Pritchard's earned my respect over the years. He knows what he's doing. Sometimes NOT making a move is the right move.

There can be no "meeting of expectations" because every time they begin to achieve original expectations, the community jacks their expectations even higher. ;) Had fans here been told, before the season began, that the team would be 33-20 after 53 games, I think there would have been exuberant reaction.

I'm not a "cake baker," but things are going pretty well. Based on that, I think Pritchard has earned the credibility to get more time to reveal his plan, rather than moment-to-moment referendums on whether he's really that good a GM.

Just because things are going well, doesn't mean you pass up a chance at making your team better.

If you had an attractive wife, but Jessica Alba asked you to marry her, would you do it? Hell yes you would!

How do you know of any deal that would make the team better? Perhaps one year from now Batum will have continued his explosive growth as a player and we'll all look back and laugh about how upset people were that they didn't get Vince Carter.

And in terms of your analogy, Vince Carter is more like Teri Hatcher or Madonna than he is Jessica Alba at this point.

Just because no trade was made doesn't mean Pritchard passed up a chance to make the team better. All possible deals aren't good ones.

We don't have that information. If we did, we could all make our own informed decisions. Since we don't, that's why I'm talking about credibility based on what he has built.

I think this is what irks me the most this year. I almost feel like I can't talk Blazers with some of my buddies because of these out-of-whack expectations or misconceptions of the end goal. I just want to sit back and enjoy the ride. Look at where the team is coming from and the positive progression each season.

The goal was to make the Playoffs, right? We're on pace, right? :sigh:

We just lost two years off of Oden/LMA/Roy and you want me to be happy about it?

For some reason I can not argue with this logic.

Are you saying that a deal would have made the team a title contender? What deal specifically was passed on that does puts this team over the top?

So, Richard Jefferson is Jessica Alba in this analogy?

Yes of course. Exactly the same thing.

(Yes i see there's a tad bit of sarcasm at work here)

having a logical debate with illogical man is a losing proposition every time, at least that's the way it feels around here. the simple fact is no one outside of that war room knows exactly what was offered and if that would have made us better off. the goal is to win championships and the road to get there is a long and difficult one that can take many paths, i still see us as on that narrow path building towards our final goal.

No, there is a rumor you could have Jessica Alba, but you'd have to throw in your favorite cousin and step sister as well.

Again, these are rumors...

If that's the case then KP really blew it big-time. I'd do that deal in a heartbeat.

Wallace = Alba, a nice player who is really hot but not the greatest thing out there
Butler = Marissa Miller, more than you could really hope for but a no brainer
Carter = Sharon Stone, once was a legend but is broken down now and really not worth her/his ego and reputation
RJeff = Marissa Tomei, can still bring it from time to time but her best days are behind her

What if I were to wait just 4 short months and Heidi Klum was all mine? and she's got a championship ring on her finger?

Again, the problem is you're calling RJ, VC or GW Jessica Alba... And they aren't... That is unless your opinion of her isn't as high as your're insinuating.

We had no offers or deals in the works for an all star. Are you saying alba is just a borderline all star?

What specific deals that were out there are you glad we passed on?

I don't know of any specific deals that were passed on, and you don't either. I guess I don't understand your post.

All I know is I renewed my season tickets already to guarantee my seats for the playoffs - and I for one am going to enjoy the rest of the regular season and our return to the postseason!

My point is that you can't expect people to explain their positions on whether or not they are pissed about today using specific examples of deals that were suggested. That's a silly point, because none of us know what was talked about. We can only assume that reported rumors have some amount of truth to them, and we can only rely on things that KP has said ("I must have sent over 1,000 emails to Paul Allen in the last week about specific deals", etc.) to determine whether or not anything viable was on the table.

So, in summation:

A) KP is a genius, but we have no assets anybody wants in a trade.

B) These same players who nobody else wants will win a title if we just "let it bake."

Sorry, but I am SICK of the BS on here today. Anybody who denies being disappointed that we didn't make a trade, needs to put down the crack pipe. Why do people feel the need to rationalize and make excuses when bad things happen?

Nope.

If a deal would have helped now AND in the future, a deal would have been made. It wasn't made...so we didn't make a deal.

What's the problem?

I'm disappointed that Portland didn't get a very good player for a cheap price. What is your opinion on what caused that result, that there were wonderful deals out there and Pritchard is too stupid and/or hateful of his own team to take them?

I'm not rationalizing anything. Based on past performance, I believe Pritchard is at least competent. If this competent GM, knowing all the things we know, didn't make a deal, the simplest explanation seems to be that there wasn't a deal that he felt bettered the team's circumstances.

What about that position do you find dubious or BS?

who's saying we have no assets anybody wants in a trade? of course we have guys people want that doesn't mean we make a deal just because. that's the story of today, there were no deals that blew them away so we stand pat with what we have.

was i disappointed about 1/394,934 of what some of you around here are. sure, i think as fans we always want to be moving and shaking. we want to be on ESPN and seeing our logo up there but it doesn't always happen. have some patenice and enjoy the ride.
