I've said this before, but the minute they traded Plumlee, I figured this current roster was finished. I think everyone outside of Dame, CJ, and Nurk is on the table and I wouldn't be surprised if we had 7 or 8 completely new players between now and the start of next season.

Remember. This isn't coming from Neil's mouth over mimosas. This 2nd and or 3rd hand info.

I believe it though. Windhorst said the Blazers will be active. Kennedy same thing. Hell, even before the season started the expectation was the Blazers would be active at the deadline. A lot of smoke there, and it makes sense.

Want to make playoffs. They believe the odds are so small in landing a top 3 pick that the difference between 10-15 is nothing.

Agreed 100%. I've always felt this way. Outside of the obvious superstars that go in the top 3 or 4 picks, it really comes down to scouting and talent evaluation - this is especially true in the 10 - 15 range. At that point, some teams will gamble on "projects" others will drafted based on need. If you're smart, there is quality to be had anywhere between 10 and 15. Tanking is for losers - by definition.

Crabbe drawing interest from Knicks and Toronto

I don't see how Crabbe to TOR works unless we get a third team involved. The point of moving Crabbe is to unload salary too get us in a position to be below the tax threshold next season. So, that means we need a team that is far enough below the cap to absorb his contract without sending back comparable salary, or in exchange for expiring contracts. TOR doesn't meet the former, and they don't really have the expiring contracts to match Crabbe's salary + trade kicker (paid by POR, but counts as incoming salary to his new team). Patterson and Sullinger are both expiring, but their combined salary is still about $4 million short of matching Crabbe's. It makes no sense to take back another big contract, like DeMarre Carroll. Might as well keep Crabbe. So, maybe some kind of 3-team trade involving someone like PHI or DEN that is below the salary floor.

Crabbe straight up for Derrick Rose works and Rose is an expiring. This would be a pure salary dump, as we wouldn't even try to re-sign Rose. Are the Knicks dumb enough to give us a draft pick for the privilege of taking on Allen Crabbe's contract? Something tells me they are, otherwise, why would they be interested? Can we also get them to include Kyle O'Quinn? He'd be a great back up big man. He's a brute, only 26 and on a very cheap contract for another season after this one. His BLK% of 7.2 is elite. We could toss in Vonleh or a combination of Napier and Patty Baseball to make the salaries match.

Blazers very active. Look for a couple deals before the deadline. Or hearing about ones that fell apart afterwards.

Don't be surprised if they add another inside big.

Teams love Harkless, but so does Portland.

Aminu attractive to playoff teams. Boston has inquired, among others.

Three-way coming soon?

Because of the other picks this year. Portland should be able to get most anyone by moving up. I'm normally for the higher pick, but this year it may not matter

I'm down for O'quinn, he'd be a solid backup for Nurkic. Someone mentioned O'quinn plus lee for Crabbe. I know lee is older, but he's a really good shooter, and I like him as a fit in Portland. Was someone I had in mind in the summer when he was a FA.

Oh and Lees agent is Dan Fegan. Lol.

That difference would have been the Greek freak, so not the best analogy

Another example of how the draft has become a crap shoot. the 15th pick, 12th, and 10th all should all have been in the top 5.

AC and all our picks for the prozingod! I would personally send Neil an apology/love letter

Crabbe and Napier for Courtney Lee, Brandon Jennings (expiring), and a draft pick?

I can see Toronto wanting a replacement for Ross, but they are over the cap as well.
Other than trading one of their starters I am not sure how they think they can get Crabbe.
DeMarre Carrol would be the only possible option and I can't see that either.

Yeah, Courtney Lee is like an older Allen Crabbe. The problem is he's 7 years older and under contract for just as long. Yeah, he's cheaper than Crabbe, but not enough cheaper to get us under the tax threshold, and even though $12 million isn't considered a lot of money these days. I don't know if I want to be paying a 34-year old shooting guard that kind of money. The guy sure has kicked around the league (7 teams in 9 seasons, and on the market again). You'd think if he was any good, he would have stuck someplace by now.

By definition we are losers.

Who are trying to win. So, the possibility exists. Tanking is losing on purpose. It creates bad habits in young players and removes all accountability (big deal we lost, we're supposed to).

According to these whispers, management is trying to make moves with the intent of making the playoffs. That means winning is a goal. It's a goal I agree with.

If we trade Crabbe, and build around Dame/CJ long term, we're fucked.

Especially if we include our pick with any trade. No need not to try to win in that scenario.

Crabbe to Toronto makes no sense though unless they send Carroll back or send him somewhere else and opt to not resign Ibaka (Lowry will get a max offer for sure). Ditto New York, it doesn't work.

New York definitely works, in multiple ways.

I agree about Toronto, I don't see how that would get done.

I still don't see why Philly wouldn't be interested. Could Noel play with Nurkic?

I mean New York don't really have anyone to send back that isn't on an awful contract. Maybe Kuzminskas and Jennings (expiring)? And the right to swap picks, that would be good. Kuzminskas can play.

Naw that doesn't work for Crabbe financially. Jennings is only making 5 mil.

Any deal with New York would start with Courtney Lee I believe. I don't think he's on a bad contract although he's a little older. Still, he's not a dinosaur, even at the end of his deal.

Why not Rose and pick, or maybe the right to swap picks? Rose is a big enough expiring contract to match Crabbe's and get us out of luxury tax hell. If we get a pick, or move up, it lets Neil save face and have something to show for matching BRK's offer sheet.

Because that's effectively their first round pick for Crabbe. They would have to love Crabbe to value him that highly, their pick will likely be lottery and could well end up in top 10 of stacked draft class.

Maybe if they send Noah back and get rid of his contract. At least it would be two favors for one then (Crabbe and taking Noah's terrible deal for pick).
