Have another call here shortly....hopefully will get an update on that but have a meeting right after so probably can't post till after 1:00 Pacific Time.
That's bullshit; you better get your priorities in order! :)

Keep hoping.

No way AC has that high value. Getting a late pick and a salary dump on AC's contract is a dream as is. Okafor isn't a negative contract to ADD on to that.
Agreed, but I truely believe AC will have a fair amount of positive value this offseason with cap going up, and 1 year less on his contract, and no-trade clause going away.

Agreed. Only team I can see him going to at the deadline is PHI but this summer I could see as many as 5-6 teams with interest.

The cap is barely going up and Zach Lowe and other writers have been suggesting that teams actually over-leveraged, increasing salary too fast in the cap spike last year and are now going to struggle to give extensions to their players reaching free agency.

The era of drunk spending is likely over and current bad contracts aren't likely to be recontextualized into being decent.

Portland Trail Blazers

Rival teams will keep calling about C.J. McCollum and Allen Crabbe’s availability after the Blazers already swapped Mason Plumlee for Jusuf Nurkic to avoid their impending cap crunch. Teams will, and should, inquire about Damian Lillard as well, although they’ll likely be rebuffed, league sources say. Portland will certainly explore options to cut costs and avoid becoming a tax team next season.

Weird, I thought his contract was an albatross!

It doesn't say, or imply, what is being offered. They could simply be calling to take Crabbe off our hands, in exchange for a first rounder, for example.

I wonder, if that same writer had called Crabbe's contract toxic around the league, with similar lack of sources, whether your mind would have been changed about Crabbe's value.

The majority here better hope Crabbe and his albatross contract gets stuck in Portland because if he gets traded, for value, I will not let it go.

I would take Okafor for reasonable trade with Philly. I mention him early this season with Nurk. He be good backup for Nurk and he would help the 2nd unit in the scoring department.

I'd be perfectly happy if you're right and I'm wrong, since that would mean better things for the Blazers.

I don't emotionally invest in being right, I just try to hold as informed an opinion as I can and try to adjust my outlook based on new developments. I've been wrong plenty of times, over more consequential things--like whether Trump would win the election, for example. I don't consider my viewpoints to be infallible. Right now, the facts (Crabbe's production and his salary) and my interpretation of his skillset lead me to believe that he's a below-market-value asset.

Absolutely

Nothing more on Okafor. However, one very direct question was met with a complete lack of response and in the passed, that has sometimes meant something they won't comment on. Since they answered everything else, it was at least curious in it's omission.

Really gotta tease that? What was your question?

Sorry....swamped this afternoon and trying to get/give updates in between meetings.

I questions about 4 different players....met with varying vague response. I asked directly about interest with Okafor and they pretended as if they hadn't heard me.

You need to enunciate your consonants and vowels better.

Still confused about interest in Jah.I mean, there's something to be said about zagging when the league is zigging, but an Okafor and Nurkic front court is just a nightmare waiting to happen space wise

It's not a long term solution.

I didn't hear you.

I'm kind of intrigued. Nurk on one block. Jah on the other. My worry is more defensively

Stein also said the POR was trying and trying and trying unsuccessfully to get Tyson Chandler

Nurkic seems to play with a lot of energy. My guess is he can last about 28 minutes MAX playing that way.
As I have said before in this thread, we need multiple centers. These guys are not playing 82 games a year. Play them each 24 minutes per game on most nights and maybe occasionally 4-6 minutes together if the match ups allow it.
