Oh boy, those pesky little birds at it again.

You all know how accurate I was this offseason (LOL) but I think something happens before the deadline and fairly soon unless some weird scenario pops up
I really hope the something includes multiple players from this roster because once again this roster just doesn't make sense. If we're rebuilding remove the guys taking all of the reps and usage away from the guys that are hopefully our future and if we're not rebuilding... what in the actual fuck are we doing?

Jalen Smith is on the block for the Pacers. Would sure be nice to get him in some sort of multi team deal.

Right now the Blazers are trotting out a starting lineup of:

Brogdon
Simons
Grant
Walker
Ayton

The Blazers traded the franchise player so we could watch Malcolm Brogdon instead of Damian Lillard, and Deandre Ayton instead of Jusuf Nurkic.

Sure, you could say a healthy Shaedon Sharpe in the backcourt would make things more palatable.

However, we have a coach who started Anfernee Simons and Scoot Henderson in their first game in Los Angeles, which is the smallest backcourt possible, even though Sharpe and Brogdon were both available.

I bet if we took a poll ( I think there was one?) that zero people would have started a backcourt of Simons and Scoot, if Brogdon and Sharpe were both healthy.

Both the big picture and the small picture are a confusing mess.

hopefully grant & brogdon are gone, i want scoot & shae to get all the shots allong with ant, so we can accelerate their development and let them play through their mistakes

some others (camara, rupert, murray, rw iii, reath) can be role players at best (and should be treated as such)

My prediction:

Brogdon/Thybulle gone.
Reath 50/50 gone.
Grant 90/10 stay.

Pick incoming? Player?

So who do you want to keep? Scoot, Sharpe, Walker, Camara, Rupert, Murray, and.........

It's still amazing to me that Joe said the three guys we drafted were win now, not your regular rookies? I dont see them getting rid of either Brogdon or Grant. Ones is Joe's guy and the other Chauncey. Just my guess. I do think there is the possibility we trade Simons before the deadline.

Why on Earth?

Because he has value, and hasn't been converted yet, meaning they are exploring options with him. Much easier to deal him as a 2-way contract and the team that trades for him can convert.

I am not saying I WANT to trade him.

The Blazers can't just keep trading everyone that has value. They have to actually build a team. Reath is someone with high output that you can keep around for cheap. No reason to trade him.

I think it would be idiotic to trade everyone but the rookies (and Sharpe) until we actually know the young ones are keepers. What is the rush? Do you guys think that hoisting more shots accelerates their growth? Yes absolutely playing time is a must, but getting a beat down every night will gets old really fast.

I can see trading Thybulle (who I like a lot) because Sharpe, if he ever gets healthy, will need minutes. (and they have potential with Rupert) No reason to trade Grant.

The problem with trading Brogodon and Simons...what if Scoot gets hurt again? How the fuck do the other players develop without a point guard in the line-up?

Some would say the same question applies even if Scoot doesn't get injured...

I'm not too invested in Reath. He's a nice player... Deserves to have an NBA contract, but will not change the trajectory of the franchise.

He's in the Drew Eubanks, Biyombo, Jalen Smith, Dwight Powell tier of player. Basically worth ~$3-5M per year.

I'd gladly pair him with Brogdon to increase the return from NYK.

Brogdon + Reath <=> Fornier (expiring) + Grimes + '24 Det (Lotto Protected) 1st feels fair.

Then flip Grimes to another team (Philly for KJ Martin + 2nd?)

I was done watching Dame's ISO ball and the stand around D so glad his huge salary oblig. is off the books. However, I agree that we need to commit to a rebuild and clear some of these vets away so young guys can get minutes

It's an interesting trade deadline. It appears to be a seller's market (i.e., not a lot of players available), but the bidding for those products right now isn't great. I think Brogdon would have real value somewhere, more than just a low 1st rounder. Grant has played beyond his contract, but he's no one's idea of a 1st option. Thybulle has been great and is on a reasonable deal. It has to kill him to be stuck here. A contending team who wants an elite wing defender could really use him.

I think Ant will stay, and we roll out a three-guard unit with Ant, Scoot, and Sharpe. I would love to get some real size at the starting four on this team. I think the combination of Camara/Murray/Rupert is serviceable at the three. Walker has shown his value as a backup four. I like Badji getting some minutes and experience this season and then being the 3rd string center next year.

It's been both frustrating and fun to see the youngsters play. It's obviously a transition year (or two or three), so we don't need to end up with our ultimate guy right now. It seems to me we could easily net another 3-4 first-round picks with all the assets we have to trade, but is that what we want? Would we rather grab guys who are not getting minutes due to a veteran in front of them?

Once we see who flourishes and who wilts, we can use all that cap space and 1st round picks and get a true impact player who is complimentary to what we have. In fact, Grant may be that player already. It's really Brogdon, Thybulle and even Williams (who has zero trade value right now) who would be first on the block.

Anyway, those are my rambling thoughts.
