If you really want to get technical you can become a felon if you use a bat as a weapon in self defense.
As I have a family friend who is a felon for just such action.
Jumped by three people outside a bank after cashing paycheck.
Grabbed bat in his car. Hit one person in the calf. Rest took off.
Registered felon.

A weapon is a weapon.

it's never peaceful on both sides. The extreme of the extreme always show up for both and then clash and get fucking crazy, that's why no normal humans go to these. People go to this event looking to get into an altercation, nothing peaceful about it as much as their signs tell you

There are certain individuals on both sides who go to a protest or counter protest looking for a confrontation.
However there are normal people who go to protest and who are peaceful. It's the few who ruin it.
There is no harm in saying that.

Listen. These things are riddled with aggressive mentalities that many feel violence will be the only thing to actually create change that benefits thier agenda. This is on both sides.
Its all over the news, its blatant enough to where the hermit living in the cave in the woods probably knows whats going on these days.

SO. If you desire to attend one of these events held by either a KKK/White supremacist or an antifa gathering... you are consciously expecting and actively looking for violence.
Anyone denying that is not being honest. You can say you are not and you are there in peace, but you went to an event that has violent minds walking around.... so you PUT yourself in that situation consciously.
The ones who want peace and want too protest peacefully are the ones discussing this. You me, others like us.

And yes. A weapon is a weapon is a weapon. ALL weapons are a sign of violence, whether in offense or defense.. those carrying them are expecting something. Denying that is also not being honest.

but even they have intentions of a peaceful protest, they KNOW they are putting themselves amidst those who are looking for more than peace. The moment you are consciously putting yourself in that situation, you can no longer play the victim card.

From everything I've been told(as I wasn't there personally, but do have friends who went) by people who went to the protest in Portland organized to resist Trump's election.
It started peaceful, then 4-5pm hit and the 'Bernie Sanders supporters' showed up(you know the people who don't have jobs) hiding their faces. My friends knew the cops wouldn't be far behind. My friends who had no interest in staying around for violence.
Theres someone on the forum who did the same. As they've mentioned it before.

There are some protests like the specific one this thread was originally dedicated to, where you're spot on.
But not every protest is started by people who have violence on their minds.

However that's all as we see as a society as people who stream to fblive/twitter/MSM/local news.
Know the only way they'll get attention and become internet famous is if they get the violence.

I never said started. I just said event. Doesn't matter who starts it anymore. Its pretty much common sense that the extremists will show regardless at some point.
It would be nice if we could say, all peaceful antifa members protest from 3-5 and then the violent ones will show up at 5, so those who want peace should leave at 5.

It would be nice it things worked that way, but they don't. Its a random timing but consistent events.

The mere fact you brought up who 'starts it' in a response to my post...
When I have multiple posts condemning both sides makes me believe you just want to argue just to argue.
Which I have no interest in participating in that.
I just don't understand why that matters... Or how you drew that from my post. So like any millennial I'm going to tune you out.

Hilarious...
So you value one life as less than thousands. Alright...
Personally I value all life.

Are you serious? First, I didn't know we were argueing, thought we were just discussing. Second reread your post I quoted. You specifically said not all protests are STARTED by those wanting violence..

Millenial? Tune me out?

HAHAHAHHA
yep, that's the answer to solving things...try to insult me and then say you wont listen to me anymore... Wow...

We probably agree on most of this, but your need for an argument( seems familiar) is blinding the facts that we were just having a discussion, but if you want to fight, or create a fight... that's your right too I suppose...

I was just stating an opinion. Not trying to argue...
Maybe too many of us Are watching too much of this and its rubbing off?

Anyhow... Tune me out if you must...but that just shows you only want to hear what you want to hear.... yet I'm the millenial... hahaha

I honestly don't know what you mean by this, but don't underestimate my sense of humanity.....there's nothing hilarious about violence, there is a difference in how it's carried out though....which I think you're twisting into an unnecessary debate .

Wait people are still trying to say the organizers of this protest were peaceful?
You don't show up as armed as their leader did, and not hope for a confrontation.
If you are speaking of Cantwell or whatever his name was, I suspect he wanted to say as many things as he could to provoke without actually doing anything physical. To provoke and then "defend yourself"

I did that all the time when I was a kid, but I'd crack momma jokes at someone to try to get them to swing first. Or other asshole things like that.

So much humanity, just bring a stick, it's fine says riverman. Like dude you're the same guy that put me on ignore because I have a different opinion than you, fuck out of here with your new age progressive act, I don't buy it.

Because I don't hate myself, I'm not reading 66 pages of this.

So where did we land? Are Nazis good or not?

Nobody thinks they are good or even thought they were good before this happened.

Black-clad anarchists storm Berkeley rally, assaulting 5

Black-clad anarchists on Sunday stormed into what had been a largely peaceful Berkeley protest against hate and attacked at least five people, including the leader of a politically conservative group who canceled an event a day earlier in San Francisco amid fears of violence.

The group of more than 100 hooded protesters, with shields emblazoned with the words "no hate" and waving a flag identifying themselves as anarchists, busted through police lines, avoiding security checks by officers to take away possible weapons. Then the anarchists blended with a crowd of 2,000 largely peaceful protesters who turned up to demonstrate in a "Rally Against Hate" opposed to a much smaller gathering of right-wing protesters.

I was there Sunday in Berkeley, unlike Denny. 4000 people rallied peacefully. There were union contingents, congregations, families. A 95 year old Holocaust survivor came in memory of his 8 siblings who died. Because the fascist rally was labeled "no Marxism" (last month Sharia law was being imposed, this month Marxism) many people wore Groucho Marx masks. One man doubled down with a poster of Groucho Marx and John Lennon. There were speeches and music. The organizer of the fascist rally had asked supporters to not show up because they had no permit but some fascist showed up, clearly hoping for a physical confrontation. and some people obliged. So people like Denny can ignore the 4000 who protested peacefully.

The few "fascists" that showed up didn't have a permit huh? 4000 other people were obviously allowed though.

There's something more sinister happening than just Trump Derangement Syndrome.

How does one brainwash a huge portion of the population these days?

There has to be a reason for denial on such a massive scale.

You could post a story about an assault at a 49ers game and someone would say "unlike YOU, I was there and there were 20,000 people peacefully watching the game"

Trump's tweet saying thanks for people's spirit during a storm is retarded...... fuck.

So, you are very much not on board with the notion of citizen gun-ownership as a deterrent to crime, I take it?

Citizen gun ownership is a means of defense in a lot of cases. That's all the reason we need. There are many other reasons as well.

Brainwash?

Conflate every deed into a constitutional crisis and make a constant stream of propaganda posed as proper journalism and quality news.

True. And completely ancillary to the context of my question.

Is that all it is? Too many people that just accept the line of bullshit they're being fed on tv?

It makes me sad if there is such a huge portion of our populace that fall for this stuff.

I always figured the Hannity and Limbaugh followers were just too lazy and apathetic to look deeper.

I'd have to quit my job and follow the networks full time to see who makes up the most news.

You can't really crack down on them either because we have freedom of the press.

This is sadder than I thought. Now we have fake twitter accounts to really confuse the lemmings.

Scary times.
