Whiteside is expiring. Nurk has 3 years left on the bargain of the century. What do you think?

When would the earliest that could happen. I wonder if that is Olsheys plan. Maybe see how Whiteside plays and decide what he wants to do whether its keeping him or trying to get someone like Love. Love of course is the better fit next to Nurk, but we dont know when Nurk will come back or how long it will take him to adjust to games.

We can trade Bazemore or Whiteside immediately. We just can't trade them with other players for a bigger salary until August 24th for Bazemore and September 6th for Whiteside.

This actually could be a really sneaky move on Olshey's part because Harkless and Leonard no longer add up to get Love or Griffin without adding more salary to it (not that I'm advocating trading for Love) but Whiteside makes more than Leonard and Harkless combined. For example, at the trade deadline Whiteside and a 1st for Love works whereas Harkless, Leonard, and a 1st for Love doesn't work. Once again I'm not advocating a trade for Love just presenting what could be happening.

It’s possible Whiteside could make that a difficult decision. He’s definitely a higher percentage scorer than Nurkic.

We have Whiteside on a contract year...he's going to beast...Nurk will be his best friend...just watch...those two are going to be hilarious together.

It has been mentioned multiple times that Whiteside almost signed with Portland during the summer where they overpaid everyone. Lowe mentioned it in one of his articles a year ago.

Lol right? Nurk is still their guy. But we also need to keep winning while he’s out. If we were rebuilding I’d say sure throw Meyers out there who cares. Whiteside will rebuild his value, help us win, and then get paid somewhere else. But if he reallllly likes it, maybe we keep him around as the backup. Doubtful, but who knows. We’ll have some money next summer.

too late...do want to give you a shoutout for the Meyers support....I wanted him to succeed and in the end he did...he got to reinvent himself and become an impact player....he has a better chance to become an allstar in the east than the west...I wish him well....now I have to ask....are you still a Blazer fan? He also gets to still have Mo as a teammate in their new environment which should help the transition....I sincerely wish him all the best success!

Not really. Wade is often a dick to his teammates. Dame never is.
Spoeltra can rub players the wrong way...but a great coach IMO.

Nurk and Whiteside are two different players. Jokic is a superior version of Nurk. The Nuggets front office made it clear to him and so did the coaching staff. He knew he was redundant here.

Nurk knows he's not coming back and playing 32-36 minutes. Next season will be working himself into NBA shape. He and Whiteside compliment one another and should be able to cover 48 minutes with high energy.

7 seasons and 393 games as a Blazer. That puts Leonard as number 23 on the all-time Blazer career list.

I hope he does well for Miami. Good character guy that always spoke well of the Blazers and the city.

Hopefully Olshey just doesn't give up to much to get him so we still have the pieces necessary to trade for Lebron.

We just gave away the 2020 NBA Championship! The winning combination of Meyers and Nurk that was developing nicely is lost if this deal goes through. Neil should cancel it now!
Whiteside will be a declining career disappointment who cannot score well, is loosing his defensive prowess, and may be a team coherence problem. Meyers is who we need!
