.It will be interesting to see if Miami can do something with Harkless or Leonard. Fro Harkless, maybe just being traded will wake him up. For Leonard, maybe new, less critical fans will do it.

I remember HW starting out at Sac Town for two years than leaving for two season over seas before heading to Miami.
Im exciting to (if we don't trade him) to see how Skal adapts to playing a full season with us. The kid has talent.
We may just have that other PF laying in the weeds?
Technically you could have Collins, Whiteside & Skal in the front court together.
I think Neil is looking at how to defend against the Lakers especially if they get Leonard.

Now we can finally recognize the brilliance of Neil Olshey! He made all those terrible deals in 2016 so we could get Bazemore and Whiteside. This was his plan all along!

Bifurcation

He has won more games every year since the rebuild and got us to WCF and has us in contention going into the fifth year.
Hows that match up with the Wolves, Sac Town, Knicks and other laggards that have reloaded several time over with limited results.

Whiteside shot 45% at the FT line last season. But he shot 70% the season before. He's all over the map in more ways than one.

The good news is that he's consistently good on his FG%. He shot 57% last season, way better than any Blazer starter.
Oh yeah, that's right. His horrific free throw shooting was the main reason I wasn't sad the Blazers didn't get him last time.

can we have a "Meyers Leonard is gone" dance party? i know @Strenuus would enjoy it!
Personally, I was hoping for a Meyers Leonard appreciation thread.

Until I realized it would quickly turn into a Meyers Leonard depreciation thread.

Good Luck Meyers. Nothing but the best.

I think we keep Whiteside, have Nurk come off the bench until he is fully back to his normal self. I think Nurk would be okay with that.

if you go by the Paul George and Gordan Hayward injuries as templates for the Nurkic recovery, then Nurkic would be fully back till 2020-2021. Portland is a win now team and they'll likely need Whiteside as a win-now asset thru the end of next season

KLove is a better asset than Whiteside, so this tells me we probably tried to offer this same package for him and it got declined. Whiteside isn't a terrible consolation prize, but I'm not over the moon about it.

I'd much rather have Whiteside. Love plays shitty defense, is injured often, and has a half decade on his overpaid contract!

With DameCJ we need complimentary role players who do something besides scoring.

And he did it without having to sweeten the pot with draft picks. And in the worst case that Whiteside doesn't work out here - he traded expiring deal for expiring deal - no long term risk!

The more I look at it, the more impressed I am.
Keep this up and you might consider changing your name to "oldmansomewhatpleased...temporarily".

That's all well and good, but how many fantasy leagues has he won?

RE: KLove

We don't need Kevin Love's offense. We have offense.

We need defense, especially for the playoffs. Whiteside gives us more defense and rebounding than probably any player we had a shot at.

Injuries were not that similar as it was reportedNurkic didn't have any ligament damage which typically leads to longer rehab and recovery.
