In 598 Games played at 1st Base, Miggy has a .992 Fielding Pctg. Not bad, yet not even close enough to get a Gold Glove. Not a base stealing threat either. Not the best overall, defensively or on the bases, if that is the criteria, then YES M. Trout is the best all around player in MLB.
Yet, how does one dethrone a 3 time consecutive-Batting Champion, few have done as much, Cobb, Carew, Boggs, Gwynn. Add Miggy now to this elite company. Or a 2 consecutive year MVP, and 2nd in balloting in 2010.
Batting Average:
Miggy:
.344 in 2011-played in 161 Games
.330 in 2012- 161 Games - Led AL - Triple Crown-MVP

Trout:

Trout:

27 - 2013
Trout played in only 139 games in 2012 yet he led the AL in Runs Scored…with 129, while leading the AL in Stolen Bases with 49.
157 Game played last year, (2013), led the league in Runs Scored with 109, and 110 Base on Balls, (mostly-IBB speaks volumes).
Stealing Bases: Trout had a .91 percent success rate in 2012 but dropped to .83 percent last year. (Catcher’s are wise now to Trout’s stealing ability).
Regardless of Miggy’s ability to steal bases, or run them as good as Trout, regardless of both players fielding percentages, a Triple Crown Winner, 3X-Consecutive batting champion, 2XConsecutive MVP. Miggy came in 2nd in MVP balloting in 2010.
How in the hell does Trout top Miggy? It can be done tho' by Trout, who has done what only a few great players have done at his young age, Harper too, well in the NL that is.
Trout has to upset Miguel’s batting championships, best Miggy in HR’s and RBI’s or a combo thereof, or Trout will always suck hind tit to Miggy, for the MVP.
Stolen bases alone, runs scored, are great, yet not enough to win the MVP.
Both have yet to win Gold Gloves. Trout In CF, is better than Miggy in Fielding Pctg. At 1st base, Cabrera’s best position for fldg. Pctg.
(keep in mind Miguel played OF more than any other position in his first 3 years in Fla.) When converted to 3rd base, his best fldg. Pctg. In Fla., was a sad: .957 for Fla. .966 was his best in Detroit at 3rd. Not even close for a Gold Glove.
Over Rated??? No fucking way....!!!!
In a player Poll, Bryce Harper was the most over-rated player. MLB Tonight revealed in their opinion Player Polls often are based on dislike and/or jealousy of the player voted most over-rated. At his age, Harper has outperformed, Tony Conigliaro, Al Kaline, Ken Griffey Jr. and a few other greats…
