Who are the Best Players in the Game, Right Now???

Lincecum just fell apart & lost whatever he had. And now they resigned him for 2 years 35M after the last two years he had & his ST numbers indicate that whatever he lost.....he still hasn't found. I'm glad Zito is gone & I hope Hudson does well.

...good call on Lincecum.

happens to the best of them, younger guys can generally throw higher mph, and as they age, they become more finesse pitchers. trouble is, his command is complete shit. still has nasty movement though.

...spot on...Lincecum's velo used to allow him to throw up in the zone and get away with it...now if he elevates his FB it's batting practice.

... the OP question asked who is the "best players" in the game, not just the best hitter, and even this early in his career, I'd rather have Trout than Miggy. I know Trout is young but I think it's safe to say that his numbers are genuine and are not some hot 2 year streak. And unlike Cabrera, Trout is a complete player, a true "5 tool player" if you will. The only facets of the game that the two are even similar is hitting for average and hitting for power. Cabrera was never the fielder nor the runner that Trout is. Trout also plays a more important and demanding position.

Is it possible I agree with you, YES! Trout is a 5 tool player, Miggy is not.

Who's to blame for the Giants demise, starting pitching, or coaching that over worked their SP staff?

I wouldn't include Posey in this Discussion either,as far as best player now?

Most Over-Rated:

Adrian Beltre
Josh Hamilton
Albert Pujols (please prove me wrong Albert)
Dan Uggla
Jason Werth-less
Prince Fielder
Ryan Braun

A-Rod???

According to MLB-TV, (twas either Ken Rosenthal or Matt Vasgersian) who said, "I polled 19 Baseball Team Executives, and they all said Mike Trout is the best right now".

Not my words, theirs.

Trout is batting a bit over .400 from ST. Tho' we all know ST stats mean little to nothing.

Is he in your eyes the best overall hitter and defensive player, in the game right now? Let me know please, how you guys feel or think: (My own jury is out)....Trout could be, tho' quit a few could also be considered.

It sure as hell isn't Yasiel Puig, the 'Bum' with a Little League mentality..

How about, who is the Best Starting Pitcher in MLB, right now?

I'd say Clayton Kershaw....(the kid reminds me alot of Koufax, tho' that could be construed as Blasphemy) - who would you say?

Jose Fernandez? The 2013 ROY...? Damn, imagine if Jose played for a wining team who could give him the run support he needs....

Mr. Splitty? Tanaka could turn out to have a great year, the way he is already looking. Tho' I will refrain from saying so, until August.

I would probably put Trout, Miggy, and McCutchen up there as well as Kershaw... I think it's WAY too early to call Tanaka... wouldn't put Puig in the top 25 or maybe even 50 because of his immaturity issues...

Good Call Hammer, as always, your spot on my Man........!!!

Thank you... but Good call in what sense... most were saying Trout, Miggy, and Kershaw... were you more talking about the McCutchen, Tanaka, or Puig comments?

Sorry I failed to clarify: I like your take on Trout, Miggy, Kershaw, and McCutchen.....It is too early to say yes to Tanaka,-

and, Puig hell NO, he's a Little League Mentality player, a loose cannon, both in his personal private life, (what's ever private about a ballplayer tho'), as well as on the Field. Puig could be one of the greatest players of the next 15 years, tho' I think he's going to burn out quickly if he doesn't get his shit together. I would want to be in Donnie Baseball's shoes right now. Although, I do agree with his frustrated take on the kid from K-U-Baaahh

Question....would Cano be discussed if he were still in NY?

Question....would Cano be discussed if he were still in NY?

Bingo. Talk about a guy who has to PROVE it!

Yes, no doubt Cano has to be discussed right now and here, even with the M's. I know I'll catch hell for saying such. But Cano, with or without the Yankees, has to be considered. He could have a great year in Seattle or would in NY too. I don't buy Kevin Long's bullshit remarks, of Cano being lazy, SOB look how many games he's been in each year. Any Player, who plays everyday damn near all year: Robby plaed in this amount of games from 07-013: 160, 159, 161, 160, 159, 161, 160..games, Hay-zoos Cripes!! If I had a every day player, sure there will be days, we don't have privy information to, about Robby's legs, aches or pains. Would anyone hustle like Pete Rose, if Pete had a sore hamstring? I doubt it. Robby deserves kudos, for the great jobs he's done, not jealous critique over how he may be slow getting out of the batters box, or put down publicly like the caged rat did publicly.

Harper too, is in the top 5-6, I'd have to say.

Cano, could prove us all wrong with one swing of his bat....gotta love Robby, regardless of where he's playing. He gave us Yankee Fans some great moments, and does have a his share of Silver Sluggers, Gold Gloves, a W.S. Ring...

Robbie in 43 games in ST is batting .465...I know ST means little to nothing.

In 598 Games played at 1st Base, Miggy has a .992 Fielding Pctg. Not bad, yet not even close enough to get a Gold Glove. Not a base stealing threat either. Not the best overall, defensively or on the bases, if that is the criteria, then YES M. Trout is the best all around player in MLB.

Yet, how does one dethrone a 3 time consecutive-Batting Champion, few have done as much, Cobb, Carew, Boggs, Gwynn. Add Miggy now to this elite company. Or a 2 consecutive year MVP, and 2nd in balloting in 2010.

Batting Average:
Miggy:
.344 in 2011-played in 161 Games
.330 in 2012- 161 Games - Led AL - Triple Crown-MVP
.348 in 2013- 148 Games - AL MVP 2nd consecutive year

Trout:
.326 in 2012 - 139 games played - (2nd in MVP balloting behind Miggy)
.323 in 2013 - 157 games played - (2nd in MVP balloting behind Miggy)

RBI’s-

Miggy:
126 - 2010 - Led AL
105 - 2011
139 - 2012 - Led AL
137 - 2013

Trout: (RBI’s)

2011 - 83 RBI
2013 - 97 RBI

Runs Scored:

Miggy:
111 - 2010
111 - 2011
109 - 2012
103 - 2013

Trout:

129 - 2012 - Runs-Led AL
109 - 2013 - Runs-Led AL

Home Runs:

Miggy:
38 - 2010
30 - 2011
44 - 2012 - Led AL - Triple Crown
44 - 2013
Also-Led AL in HR’s in 2008 with 37 HR’s.

Trout:
30 - 2012
27 - 2013

Trout played in only 139 games in 2012 yet he led the AL in Runs Scored…with 129, while leading the AL in Stolen Bases with 49.
157 Game played last year, (2013), led the league in Runs Scored with 109, and 110 Base on Balls, (mostly-IBB speaks volumes).
Stealing Bases: Trout had a .91 percent success rate in 2012 but dropped to .83 percent last year. (Catcher’s are wise now to Trout’s stealing ability).

Regardless of Miggy’s ability to steal bases, or run them as good as Trout, regardless of both players fielding percentages, a Triple Crown Winner, 3X-Consecutive batting champion, 2XConsecutive MVP. Miggy came in 2nd in MVP balloting in 2010.

How in the hell does Trout top Miggy? It can be done tho' by Trout, who has done what only a few great players have done at his young age, Harper too, well in the NL that is.
Trout has to upset Miguel’s batting championships, best Miggy in HR’s and RBI’s or a combo thereof, or Trout will always suck hind tit to Miggy, for the MVP.
Stolen bases alone, runs scored, are great, yet not enough to win the MVP.

Both have yet to win Gold Gloves. Trout In CF, is better than Miggy in Fielding Pctg. At 1st base, Cabrera’s best position for fldg. Pctg.

(keep in mind Miguel played OF more than any other position in his first 3 years in Fla.) When converted to 3rd base, his best fldg. Pctg. In Fla., was a sad: .957 for Fla. .966 was his best in Detroit at 3rd. Not even close for a Gold Glove.

Over Rated??? No fucking way....!!!!

In a player Poll, Bryce Harper was the most over-rated player. MLB Tonight revealed in their opinion Player Polls often are based on dislike and/or jealousy of the player voted most over-rated. At his age, Harper has outperformed, Tony Conigliaro, Al Kaline, Ken Griffey Jr. and a few other greats…
