I can't wait really because Okafor is considered a good, if not great, defender. Plus he's got some nice "back to the basket" post moves. Also, I've been reading a lot of banter that our wins are great, but not against teams with a true center or post players.

If Oden can come into this game with that same "I am going to kill the living shit out of you, your team and the fans that come to cheer you on" it will be a HUGE game for Blazer fans. That type of attitude is what champions have. They don't care who they face or how good you are. They always have confidence that they can come in your building and take all the confidence away from you.

So excited gonna leave work early so I can get home in time to watch the whole game. These early tip-offs are really ruining my schedule, could only watch the last few minutes of the last couple games.

edit: Just like OSUBlazerfan! :smiley-thumbup:

Can't wait to watch some POR-NO tonight.

WOOOOT WOOOOT! Me too. I hope we blow them out. That would be a nice statement to the naysayers on the win streak. Well who am I kidding. They would probably blame it on Scott being fired.

Hahahahahah be careful and not get fired. I am lucky enough to be scheduled from 7:30 am - 4PM Mon - Friday. And I love Tivo. It's my best friend!

I'm actually nervous about tonight's game. My guess is that the Hornets are going to be playing with a little bit of a chip on their shoulder with Scott being fired. If the Blazers don't come out with their A game tonight I think this could go sideways quick.

Definitly excited. NO has caused a lot of problems for the Blazers over the last few years. West for some reason brings his best games against Aldridge. I would like that to change. It will also be interesting to see how the replays are tonight. We should be able to determine how many "Hurricanes" HCP drank the night before by how many of those replays are good!

Very excited. I think the Blazers should win, but I'm very interested to see how Oden does against a good defensive big who's pretty strong himself. I was very encouraged by Oden's play against Duncan, and I want to see more of that.

I would like Nate to give a nice "pep-talk" to the team before the game. Make it really important that we give em a choke hold from the beginning. This would be the time that Roy "forces the issue" and comes out GUNS BLAZING! See there is a time and place for Roy to dominate the ball.

On a side note. It's also equally important to establish a "low post game" as well. With Aldridge and Oden spear heading it.

If I remember right the whole Blazer front line struggled against Okafor the last time they played. Hopefully they right the ship this time.

Not that I am soft, but that "inspired play" really choked me up against Oden. I almost had tears of joy running down my face. I agree. I want to see him dominate again.

Sometimes in the past when we play teams with smaller quicker point guards (I remember this against Derrick Rose and it being successful) we have seen Nate run LMA at the top of the key to force them to give up the ball when they cross half court to get it out of their hands. I wonder how that would work with Paul. Thoughts? Im guessing Paul is just that good and it might do more harm than good.

CP3 is far better than Rose. That won't work on him. I would much rather see the Blazers run the same defensive scheme as they did with SAS. Parker is one of the quickest and best PGs to score in the paint. Help a ton with the three guard line-up and make sure that any shot CP3 takes is from the perimeter, even if it's going to cost you some gamble "wide open shots"

That kind of what I figured as well. It seems like if we make Paul a scorer and try to cut down the passing lanes so the other teammates dont get involved then we should have a good chance.

It could be good or bad. CP is pissed so maybe he won't play with the same intensity for the first few games while he gets over losing Scott and then will pick up the pace as he gets over it.

Chicago had Drew Gooden as their PF at the time. Even if West is nowhere near as good as he was in previous years - he is much better than Drew Gooden - and Paul will find him.

Yeah, you're right. I guess Im just hoping that Paul doesnt go all bananas on us and get our big in foul trouble.

Only way to combat that is have Roy and Oden smash you from the gate. As much as I explain Roy is more of a passive player in the first two quarters, there is a time and place we need him to come out of the gate and sock it to the other team. This is one of those times. Oden needs to be really aggressive offensively this game. Aldridge will and should be used as a spot up shooter in the first quarter, giving Oden and Roy spacing to do their damage.

I really want us to come out of the gate with a nice lead. Maybe even a 15+ point advantage. If we can do that, then any attempts of inspired ball will deflate and it will be just our talent against their talent. Guess who wins?

Please god, help Chris Paul come safely onto Portland's roster without giving up Oden. Amen!

On the OP's topic I'm excited and nervous tonight. I pray that the refs let Oden and Okafor play down low. If they let Oden play I expect he will outplay Okafor. Oden has shown flashes of "Superstardom" according to my Laker loving friend. He's the same friend I have the Oden vs. Bynum bet with, so that's high praise. I predict that if Oden isn't in foul trouble he will dominate Okafor.

Very excited.

I am hoping to see Oden play help defense the way he did in Minni. In other words realizing when to contest and when to let the guys go by. He did a very good job of that on Tuesday.

He is going to have to even better tonight to avoid foul trouble. CP3 is going to go right at him.

It's important that Portland bring help from the middle of the court to force CP3 to go baseline. No one on Portland is going to stop, or even slow, Paul individually...but they need to scheme to protect Oden (and Przybilla) a bit. Ultimately, I don't care how much Paul scores...their record shows that he can't do enough by himself to make them a good team. The key is to keep Oden on the floor and to limit everyone else on New Orleans.

I am hoping to see a passing of the tourch tonight as it becomes clear that Aldridge is better than West and more worthy of the being an all star selection.
