Thinking of the upcoming season, it occurred to me that there were at least as many big time NFL kids on this UO team as any I could recall. So who will the NFL end up valuing most? Even better, name your top 3

Colt has the most NFL ready body. He reminds me of Jeremy Shockey a bit. I hope we use him a lot more this year. The guy would be a super star at Stanford. I think he'll go high.

Mariota has the ability to be a good NFL QB. He's fast, he's tall, and he has a good arm. I think he could win a Heisman if the team is good this year.

Armstead could be a really good player. I don't know if he's in my top three though. I'd have to think about it. Colt and Marcus are definitely my one/two right now though. I'm hesitant to say that DAT will do anything in the NFL. He's so small.

Also, Huff is possible to be a great WR.

I think Mariota can be a good NFL QB, just not ready yet. Give him another year. Same with Armstead.

I think my #3 guy is Terrence Mitchell. Prototypical NFL size & speed and a solid all around CB... my guess is he goes mid-late 1st

I could definitely see Tyner as being NFL quality. He certainly seems to have the body for it. I would like to see him play D1 first though.

I'm surprised Oregon's not doing better recruiting in the southeast with the success they've had on the national stage.

I just checked Rivals, and the only player ya'll have coming in from this region is a guy named Torrodney Prevot, a DE that turned down LSU and Texas for Oregon. I just wonder why Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, and Florida didn't recruit him, or maybe rather, why he didn't show interest in them...

That's how Ole Miss got those 5 stars. That one WR from Illinois? He showed some fat moneys after signing.

NCAA doesn't want to touch them because:
1. Football is second only to God in the Southwest. They have shit pro sport teams(except in Georgia) so they focus on HS and College football. People pay mad money for them.
2. Boosters. Jerry Jones is an Arkansas booster for instance. They have some of the best boosters in the land. Booster give money, money gets best facilities/coaches, which bring the best recruits.
3. Location/race. The Southeast has lots of African American Slave descendents, and the Slaves were made to be big and strong. So naturally, their ancestors would be too and if you looked at the recruits in the SE, they are bigger than prospects located in California or Ohio.
4. The economy. The Southeast has some of the most poorest and illiterate high schools in the country, so sports is seen as an escape from poverty and gang life because of the poor school conditions. So the athletes will do their damndest to get out, on top of that, they want to get to the NFL asap because they don't trust Minor League systems(like in Basketball's D-League, Baseball, and Hockey. It's straight from College to the NFL).
5. Tradition. All thanks to Bear Bryant and his players becoming coaches, they pass on his methods and philosophy, much like seeds riding on the wind. They have that winning tradition that rivals USC, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Michigan since before most of us were born.

elite recruits with high GPAs like Torrodney pretty much have their pick as to where they end up, so it's probably because he wasn't interested in them. That he'd initially committed to USC might indicate he wanted out of that general area.

btw, in this last class the Ducks did land two other commits from the SE... Damion Hobbs (Tx) and Juwaan Williams (Ga)

as 19 year olds, true Sophomore Jake & Redshirt Freshman Tyler Johnstone both started ahead of 23 year old Kyle Long. Sure they both had a year of experience in the program on KL, still...
