Nicknames make a man. Or something like that. Either way nicknames are a cool way to celebrate players. Sometimes players are remembered by their nicknames! But not all nicknames are good. That being said I present to you, readers, the coolest and best NBA nicknames of the past decade.
Honorable Mentions- Paul (The Truth) Pierce, Jason (White Chocolate) Williams, Tim (The Big Fundamental) Duncan, Shaun (The Matrix) Marion, Tracy (T-Mac) Grady, Dwyane (Flash) Wade, Steve (Hair Canada) Nash
10. Kenyon (K-Mart) Martin- This nickname didn't take a lot of work but it honors one of the greatest shops of all time.
9. Kobe (Black Mamba) Bryant- Sure its corny but it sounds cool and is very marketable.
8. Manu (Obi-Wan) Ginobili- I probably said this like over 50 times today. It's just that cool.
7. Brian (The Custodian) Cardinal- Its a new way of saying getting down and grabbing loose balls and rebounds.
6. Chris (Birdman) Andersen- Chris has really taken to the nickname. Just ask his million tattoos.
5. Andrei (AK-47) Kirilenko- That nickname makes me want to go run and hide when he comes driving down the court.
4. Gilbert (Agent Zero) Arenas- His nickname was inspiring, he talked about how wearing Zero represented the hardship he overcame. That was before the whole gun incident.
3. Rafer (Skip 2 My Lou) Alston- His nickname comes from his street ball days where his incredible moves made him a legend. His nickname "Skip 2 My Lou" comes from one of the moves.
2. Allen (The Answer) Iverson- The name makes you feel safe drafting him and having him on your team. While he wasn't the answer in Philly or Denver he was still a decent player who just couldn't answer the question of winning a championship.
1. LeBron (King) James- You can't argue with the king!

whats ur list? remember this is only from 2000- now

I just think some are bad nicknames. Black Mamba? Wack. Flash is lame. Obi-Wan?

Is The Mayor the last decade? that was awesome.

I like nicknames that don't claim how good someone is, unless they've earned it. King's usually lead there people to victory, something the "King" Lebron can't do. The "Answer" had zero answers for anything, except jack up another 3 pointer.

"White Chocolate" was an awesome nickname for the floppy-haired, fancy passing Jason Williams. It didn't really fit the "more disciplined" buzz cut version of him.

So while the nickname, I guess, qualifies as the "last decade," I think it was really only good in the late-90s.

The Big.................Whatever Shaq came up with at the time. Either for himself of others

King James
STAT
Agent Zero
Crash
Birdman
The Big Fundamental
The Truth
The Kid
The Matrix
The Answer
AK47
Big Baby
Vanilla Gorilla
yea ur list is good and i agree black mamba is lame but it has become classic and i forgot about big baby! thats awesome but most of the ones on ur list i had

I think a nickname has to fit well with a player, and have him called that commonly. AK-47, Birdman, King, Answer. I never hear people call kobe Black Mamba. And what kind of douche gives himself a nickname like that?

As for Kings leading people to victory, kings inherit a throne because of blood line, having done jack shit. I'd say it maybe fits well?

I always thought Vincanity for Carter was fresh!

Never liked the ones that were just a play on their name like T-Mac or Broy.

I really hate Kobe's nickname "The Black Mamba". He gave it to himself, so it doesn't really count but the media loved it so they kept it. The Ducks have the real "Black Mamba".

How do you agree when I just said your two top nicknames are some of the worst nicknames in basketball?
i agree that u have to earn a nickname like the answer and king but they did earn it lebron james was a great player in high school and was "king" of the world when he came on to the nba
