So are Dame and CJ not talented?
But Jokic is 10x more talented than Nurk on offense.Dame & CJ aren't the focus of this thread. Nurkic and Jokic are. We're comparing those two. The fact that Nurk's D is 10x better than Jokic's makes him more talented IMHO. Now, if you'd comprehend my post, you'd realize I wasn't saying Jokic wasn't talented. What I asked was if he played D. And yes, the answer is no.
But Jokic is 10x more talented than Nurk on offense.
I think if you asked GMs, theyd all take Jokic over Nurkic.....right now
It's as true as your statementWe both know that's not true.
And you can read 28 other GM's minds?
I disagree with that completely. They might take Jokic because he's got more years left on his rookie deal but that's it IMO.
It's as true as your statement
Gotta get in quick before he's fired!Show some compassion for the guy!

Jokic and Nurkic were on the same team (which is the best comparison because it's same situation, same everything) and Jokic was by far the better player. I don't get what is the debate here. We are comparing two players that are on a different level. Like comparing Lebron with Paul George for example.
Jokic's skills with the ball are sick, his court vision and shooting touch are far superior to Nurkic's. His assists are not coming just from the offensive flow, he is many times rebounding and get the ball to the other side where he initiates the offense. He is a playmaker for Denver. Nurkic cannot do that. And Nurkic cannot shoot almost 60% from the field or 80% from the line or shoot the three.
As for their defense Nurkic has more tools there I agree, his built is superior and he has more length, but with him on the court Nuggets were - while with Jokic they are +, because their difference in the offensive end is HUGE.
I'm pretty sure most of you doing these comparisons have not watched Jokic play or maybe 1 or 2 games. The guy is a joy to watch. A true star for this league, up there with the best.
For those of us that we have watched him play and we don't see only RIP CITY through our glasses this comparison is garbage.
Nurkic is better.
If Jokic played for the Blazers then he would be better.
Jokic is a really good Dirk clone. Nurkic is a really good Sabonis clone.
Agreed, he's not really anything like Dirk. CWebb is my comparison for him. But a bit taller and more doughy, and a lil less athletic.I didn't see a Dirk clone out there.
Right, but you can't compare a white player to a black player. It's some kind of mortal sin.Agreed, he's not really anything like Dirk. CWebb is my comparison for him. But a bit taller and more doughy, and a lil less athletic.
I saw a lot of jumpers and some running around getting curb stomped by a real center.I didn't see a Dirk clone out there.
It wasn't that, honestly. I paid attention to the guy for the first time last night and saw some okay jumpers and a euro center working on some range. Looked like Dirk me.Right, but you can't compare a white player to a black player. It's some kind of mortal sin.
I like that better. Both have interesting, and impressive offensive games (Nurk is both graceful and completely not graceful when he shoots but when he's on he can't miss), but Nurk (I wanna call him Big Bear for some reason) can stop a center his size; Jokic can't. Plus, and the Denver players said it, he out for blood on the court. He has the killer instinct, I'd say to the level that Dame does. CJ is right there too but he's a showman.Jokic is Marc Gasol without the defense. Nurkic is Marc Gasol.
It's much more important that your center is good defensively than your guards. They're the anchors down low. I will take the defensive center over the offensive one ten times out of ten.
It's absolutely the correct answerThis is still the correct answer.
On a team with few creators and limited perimeter shooting, Jokic definitely out-played Nurkic and it wasn't even close.
However, I do wonder if somebody with Jokic's skillset really lends itself to elite success co-existing with other elites. Sure, Dirk won a championship (only 1) but it was after Nash left. Durant never won with elite talent next to him in Westbrook/Harden. Seven footers with shooting guard skills sound nice, but does it really lead to rings?
Seems like big men dominating the middle have a much greater track record of success. I know the league is changing, getting smaller....I guess it gets back to re-hashing the old Oden-vs-Durant debate. One guy was supposed to win scoring records while the other won championships.
As talented as Jokic is, I definitely think he's a worse fit for our team than Nurk. Dame and CJ don't need clever passes to get open shots nearly as much as they need crushing screens and somebody who forces defenders to sag into the middle. Give them that extra half step and they'll create plenty for themselves (as we saw last night). Given how horrible they are as defenders, it's also no small thing to have a really good defensive center as well.
he wouldnt like thatNurk (I wanna call him Big Bear for some reason)
So Tyson Chandler over Kareem?
Some ok jumpers? Dirk is one of the best mid range players in league history. His release is high and behind him enabling him to get his shot off against almost any kind of pressure. Being able to hit a set jumper is a skill many players have, but it doesn't make them compare to Nowitski. It wasn't that, honestly. I paid attention to the guy for the first time last night and saw some okay jumpers and a euro center working on some range. Looked like Dirk me.
Ugh Jesus fucking Christ I forgot how insufferable people's POSTS were. You fucking win I don't know what I'm talking about. Jokic did not impress me at all; he was invisible. Some ok jumpers?
