Who is Neil going to trade for

Not a lot of people agree but I’m a proponent of being VERY good or VERY bad, I take zero stock in consecutive 8th seed births or winning one playoff game a year for a decade straight. Give me championships or give me high lottery picks.
I agree 100%! And being really bad and getting lottery picks and watching young players get big minutes and develop is much more fun than watching the same mediocre roster every year barely make the playoffs and lose in the 1st round

How do we cover the extra salary over 12.9M+100k when we are over the cap? Doesn't our being over the cap limit us to only $100k plus of minus from the TPE?

TPE's don't count against the luxury tax

barf. I didn't watch Memphis last year. Is Parsons knee really done or could he theoretically play?
he had his highest 3pt % of his career, so we know he can still shoot. As for play, I don't know.

Will Olshey wait to use the TPE until he sees what team is getting LeBron, and hence will be desperate to clear space?

I misread the < for a > in the above post. Yes, we could use it on someone with a lower salary. The challenge there is that you start running into more players that have good value, who teams will not want to give up.

I mean the second part is a bit more important, no?

A bit. Stotts just has them stand around and shoot 3s anyway right

Blazers have been in purgatory for a long time. I wonder sometimes if I am in hell and this is my punishment. Instead of getting poked in the ass with a hot poker I get to watch the mediocre Blazers lose for eternity.
And continue to care about them regardless

I'd try to move heaven and earth: Trade Picks + anyone on our team (Except Dame & Collins) for an unhappy Kawhi Leonard. He is one of the few guys in the league who would be able to defend Durant.
Was Kawhi that broken last year, or did he pout and tank his way through and entire season?

If Kawhi was broken, is he fixed? If Kawhi was that unhappy, would he be any happier in Portland? Happy enough to play, and re-sign?

Inquiring minds want to know.

I will admit that I am entertained either way. When the team is bad and stocked with young projects, I enjoy watching and evaluating them and tracking their development. And I go to a lot more games because good seats are cheap. When the team is good....self explanatory.

The Crabbe TPE doesn't expire until 7/25, however, I believe that starting July 1 2018-19 salaries go into effect. I'm not 100% sure on this, but if so, it would mean guys like Eric Gordon, whose 2017-18 salary just fits under the Crabbe TPE (+$100k) would no longer fit under the Crabbe TPE.

Here's a summary of our exceptions:

Exceptions
  • Trade Exception (Tim Quarterman, expiring 6/28/18) — $543,471
  • Trade Exception (Allen Crabbe, expiring 7/25/18) — $12,969,502
  • Trade Exception (Noah Vonleh, expiring 2/8/19) — $3,505,233
  • Taxpayer Mid-Level Exception: $5,291,918
The Quarterman one is useless and will expire. If we fon't us ethe Vonleh TPE now, it could come into play at the trade deadline in February.

But if CJ was traded for 4, who would they want? Doncic, Bamba or Bridges?

Or Jackson and let Nurkic go? I guess same if you do Bamba.

Collins, Jackson, Harkless, Baldwin, Dame could be fun to watch.

Crazy position to be in...

I'd really sell out and try to sign and trade Nurk.

I REALLY like Mo Bamba...

I think he's gonna be the best player in this draft.

Not me. Rather have Collins at PF.

I don't care what position Collins plays, but wouldn't mind having someone play next to him who can also guard out to the three point line. Jackson seems like he could. Not sure Bamba can do that, but you also can't teach an 8' wing span.

Neil spoke about to bring Veteran Players, man i don't know if that's make a difference for us. The peak for this Team is the 2nd Round. I just can't see how Neil can add a difference Maker without Trading CJ, we are stuck in the middle of nowhere, i feel sorry for Lillard
This team has already made the 2nd round... without Collins and Nurk.

I wouldn't trade either of them for Love...

I wouldn't either, but there are folks that would make some form of a deal around CJ and Love (I would NOT, but I have no doubts there are folks that would). But Dame is just preposterous.

Me either. Though, if it's Love and 8 in some fashion for CJ and 24...

I like the value of getting to 8. I just don't like Love on our team. In a "positionless" NBA, where you want guys who can switch and rotate, etc. moving CJ for a big seems like an odd move. Especially when you have Nurk, Collins, and Aminu.
