I have a friend from high school that posts stupid right wing garbage everyday, he was cool in high school so i just hid the crap.
 
How do you guys ignore jlprk? I understand not agreeing with his takes and I can kind of see the trolling argument (although I don't agree) . . . but as far as creativity and the use of the english language to express his thoughts . . . he is one of a kind. I can't help but click when I see he posts just to see what he is going to type. I don't know, probably just me, but I feel he is the Dennis Miller of the board.

Sidenote: Been posting with jlprk and maris since ESPN days (early 2000s). On ESPN there was a running theory that jlprk and maris were the same people. I bought into it at the time but no longer think that. It is just weird those two are again linked together.

BTW-hate this idea for a thread (yet I respond, I know). Who isn't reading this thread wondering if they are being ignored. I'm pretty sure I rub people the wrong way sometimes, but I don't want to read I'm being ignored and then twisting the knife by explaining why. For me, ignorance is bliss . . . and as Glenn Close would say in Fatal Attraction "I'm not going to be ignored"

I think jlprk is just very wrong most of the time.

MARIS61? He's never been the same since being abducted by aliens.
 
I used to block Lamer because she/he was always so mean to me in response to everything I posted. He/she hasn't posted here in awhile so I'm not sure if I still ignore him/her anymore. It's a pretty lame feature anyway. You still see that they posted.
 
Nobody right now. I use it more as a temporary fix when someone is getting annoying. Usually, after a day or two I unblock them. In the OT section, Maris is a repeat visitor, in the regular ripcitytwo section RoyToy and a couple others that tend to post fifteen times repeating the exact same thing, those guys get blocked from time to time, but as soon as I'm in a better mood (happens quickly) they are back.

The people on my ignore list I would like to keep up with, but post too much religion, politics, or negativity. If I unfriend them, they will want to know why. By just hiding them they can message me if it is important.

jlprk and MIXUM are the only two people currently on my ignore list. There are others that I ignore without using the S2 feature.

You're only cheating yourself by your mistaken assumptions about other posters and their motives. jlprk is the most intelligent poster on this board and MIXUM was probably the most rabid Blazers fan here. By ignoring their input you severely limit the quality of any debate which stunts your opportunity to learn.

I think I will survive. Been on here for awhile and cannot remember a jlprk post that I have gotten anything out of. Reading MIXUM's posts took some of the fun out of being a season ticket holder for me. The guy was Canzano on steroids. Only one team is going to win it a championship every year. I am not going to bitch and moan that I am not that team.

None of the people I'm with on FB post political stuff. I must be lucky to let people into my life who have better things to do than make everybody else know about their opinions on everything. That's what this board is for, right? :cheers:
 
I don't read FB as much as I used to because its flooded with people telling everyone about their mundane daily activities. Yawn.

A few people who post that their at the gym all the time and check-in there. Oh wow, my life's complete knowing that you're at the gym.

Agreed, that is what this board is for. I applaud the fact that your friends on FB have common decency. Family and shipmates are tough to just cut ties with entirely for me. Lost a few over the election and Martin trial though. Not losing any sleep over it.

I do post pics of my kids, but usually only once a week and it has to be a photo that someone would find entertaining regardless of who it was. Still, I am guessing all of my friends are not as impressed as the people I am posting them for (family back home). No way I could read FB daily without the hide feature.
