Who wanted Monroe?!

That's a situation that the eye test and numbers don't come close to matching up. I don't watch a whole lot of pistons games but when i do i dont see monroe even try on that side of the floor. LA does a heck of a lot more and shows a lot more effort then Monroe.
Go talk to pistons fans or read articles their beat riders put out and they blast Monroe for his D and lack of effort on that end of the court.

I've never read reports blasting on aldridges d. It's more about playing soft around the basket. You know taking too many outside shots. In terms of defense; well Aldridge leads this team in blocks and I would argue is our best one on one defender. How many times have we seen stotts double the man Aldridge is defending?

Oh sorry, I was just adding to your comment. I was saying like "yes and...."

Monroe is better at 22 then LA is at 50% of the game which is offense. Monroe's D is almost nonexistent, he is a very very bad defense player and thats half the game. He doesn't even pretend to try on that end of the floor. Offense in the NBA (especially on young guys) seems to get all the glory and people over look the other half of the game which is D.

Its always so silly to bring up Monroe's non existant D. When Aldridge was 22 he didn't play D either, shit he's still not good at defense.

Aldridge averaged 18pts/G when he was 22. I wouldn't really say Monroe is better.

And you're right about his defense. Despite what some posters have said, Monroe's been getting called out for his defense his whole career the way J.J. Hickson and Meyers Leonard get called out by us. This is why DRtg is a joke and only used by low-information posters.

Moving Aldridge out for Monroe is basically a bad idea. Good thread.

I don't believe that for a minute. His monster numbers were just last season. He is on a new team with a new coach. Stotts has tried using Aldridge like dirk; which is a huge mistake. I suspect he will have good number years next season. Also, pair him with a decent defensive center and he should be much much better.

Compared to Monroe, Aldridge is much much better. And Monroe is god awful from anywhere outside of the rim. You want a 30% perimeter replacement for Aldridge? Monroe shoots almost 50% of his shots at a 30% rate. Ouch!!!

How has Stotts used Aldridge like Dirk? Thats a crock of shit. Since when does Aldridge get the ball near the 3point line, face up and create using dribble and quick first steps?

Never.

This thread is literally retarded.

Aldridge shot selection percentages:
Jump: 74%
Close: 21%
Inside: 26%

Monroe shot selection percentages:
Jump: 31%
Close 61%
Inside 26%

Is this all you really got? What do you have to back up your claim?

Oh an I Dont know what games you guys are watching, but Aldridge gives the least effort on D on the team. He's so terrible at rotations sometimes it's ridiculous. He stands there and watches. If you haven't seen it, you don't pay attention.

What's really retarded. Anything outside of rim is 33% or worse by Monroe. So that 61% close is actually 33%! Lol

And that 74% outside is at least 40%. So basically the worst shot by Aldridge is better than the 0-10ft by Monroe. They are almost identical around the rim.

So who's better offensively again?

The ones where he plays defense. You maybe watching hickson and Leonard. That's who I saw using your example

Hickson tries he's just an idiot. Leonard does things just to do them. Like his awful hedging of screens. Those are problems of knowledge and skill. LaMarcus' problem is not trying. The point of this thread was that Monroe is more of a perimeter player than Aldridge. That is retarded.

You must have reading comprehension issues. I said Monroe is a perimeter player; which almost 48% of his shots are from the perimeter. And anything outside the rim is less than 33%.

I brought up Aldridge to explain what you fools complain about. Monroe loves the perimeter shot. Maybe not as much as Aldridge, but Aldridge is actually much more efficient at his worst than Monroe's best outside shot

The differences between their eFG% and TS% is .02, one for LaMarcus, one for Greg. Even though LA is more efficient from the perimeter, Monroe's overall offensive efficiency is pretty much the same as Aldridge. That's Aldridge as a 27 year old and Monroe as a 22 year old.

And everyone forgets about passing. Passing is a huge part of offense, and Monroe is much better than Aldridge. Monroe's assist percentage is only 2 points lower than Batum's.

Pretty much saying Monroe sucks makes no sense, he has virtually he same level of production as LaMarcus.

This is the exact type of comment that can be appropriately replied to using the sentence: "He's still only 22."

Does LA take the exact same shots he did when he was 22?

You are forgetting the most important factor. Monroe isn't the #1 or #2 defensive assignment. And most of his "efficiency" is from putbacks, just like hickson. Are you saying hickson is better than Aldridge offensively?

The fucking advanced stats guys have no analog in factoring how Aldridge opens the game for others. Stick to math buddy...

Reading material:

Aldridge isn't the only guy who routinely gets doubled.

Source?

The defense thing is blasphemy as well. Monroe has a better DRtg and DWS on a team that all around is worse defensively than the Blazers.

Who are the #1 and #2 guys on the Pistons Mags, and like VG I'd like to see your source on the putbacks comment.

Pretty sure Mags made a thread a few weeks ago showing Aldridge was a good post defender.

Just as there are threads showing he's a bad defender. What's the difference, besides your opinion?

Aldridge averaged (per36) one more point, 2 less assists, and 3 less rebounds than Monroe at 22. Aldridge shot 48.4%, Monroe shoots 48%. Their TS% are exactly the same, 52.3%. How was Aldridge better at 22?

The per 36 is a joke. And we can use the major complaint of zags as proof. Zags says the last 12 minutes if the game; Aldridge is non existent; therefor the time on the floor is when he is least productive.

I would bet a thousand bucks Monroe would be god awful if we expect him to play 38 minutes a game
