well,

none of this is a surprise.

if Love, Mayo, Gordon, and Bayless are all selected among the top nine picks, as expected, that would leave three picks to go before the Nets.

With the exception of Robin Lopez, the players on the Nets' list are all projected to be selected somewhere between picks five and twelve. So (other than possibly Robin Lopez) there is no craziness going on--the Nets' persepctive is roughly in line with everyone else's.

Once exception is Anthony Randolph, who could be selected as high as #6 and as low as #15.

Anyway, of the six players on the Nets' list--Gallinari, the Lopezes, Augustin, Westbrook, and Joe Alexander--between two and three will be gone, so the nets will have their choice among three or four.

I will guess that two of the players left on the table will be Robin Lopez and Augustin. I don't want them.

I don't want Brook (or Robin) Lopez. The record of bigs selected in the second half of the lottery is not good. Over the past five-six years, the only late lottery bigs that have developed have been HS players like Al Jefferson, Andrew Bynum, and Amare (and Biedrins, I guess he qualifies). Lopez is more likely to follow in the footsteps of Channing Frye, Patrick O'Bryant, Hilton Armstrong, Mel Ely, Mike Sweetney, etc. I want someone like Hibbert with the #21 pick instead, who can be just as good at a lower cost.

I don't want Augustin unless Marcus has already been dealt.

If Westbrook, Alexander, and Gallinari are all gone by #10, I will be very unhappy. I'd be happy with one of them. I don't care which.

Out of curiosity, what is making Brook slip so bad?
Before the draft, Brook Lopez was considered a top 5, a probable #3 pick by most mock drafts. Why has he slipped so much? His brother was projected to go in the 20s... now we have people saying we should take Robin at #10 and god forbid we touch Brook with #10.

Kind of the same thing with Augustin. He was a consensus Top 10 pick, now he's going in the teens. All the workout reviews I've read about him say that's turning heads left and right, that he's a true point with good scoring instincts.

I don't want Westbrook. He sounds too much like Wright to me.
I really like Alexander but think he made it into the lottery because of his work ethic. After his athleticism and work ethic is gone, I don't think he has enough basketball skill to succeed, at least not in the first 3-4 years in the league.
I don't want Robin. A defensive big man who can rebound? Throw me a Boone.
I don't want Augustin. I like his potential and skill set and he will turn into a good player, but there is no place on the Nets for him. We have VC and DH at the guard positions - long term.

I want Brook or Gallinari. Brook has showed improvement throughout his college career. He recently turned 20. No, he may not become the next Tim Duncan (besides, these "next" comparisons are retarded), but he is mature, intelligent and already has a good skill set. A skill set that we just don't have on the team right now: post scoring. Gallinari is a sweet shooting point forward whose maturity by playing in the pros should make him an immediate contributor.

trade up and get love. Only impact player who will help the nets right away, and make them set at PF for the next 10 years. A banger, defensive presence, and has a very high bb iq. Thats the only move the nets need to do. Package all 3 picks to move up to 5 or lower.

I don't agree with you all that much. I don't really like Love as a prospect. I don't really think he's much of a defensive presence.

Well my brother in law turned me on to him being an alumni of UCLA, and the reports in california are he the best freshman coming out of UCLA ever. That means better than Jabar, Wicks, Walton, etc

the kid is the real deal, in fact he reminds me of Larry Bird alot more than the Euro guy. Check him out. I've seen him play this year like in 12 games and he does play defense. Ive seen him beat Stanford twins 3 times this year head to head. And in some of those games UCLA had the lead with only 40 seconds left and the guards from the opposing teams drives to the bucket to either get fouled or score the easy bucket, and every time they get blocked or are forced to throw up an errant shot. To me thats a defensive presence.

I think it'll be between Gallinari and Westbrook. Alexander should catch some teams with his athleticism, and get picked before 10. Gallinari is most likely, because of the fact that he stated he wanted to play for NY or NJ.

Personally if we get Gallinari I can see us scoring 110-115 points a game and still losing. Defense is a beautiful thing my friends...
