How stupid was Sullinger for not declaring last year? He probly woulda went #2 overall, now he's not even invited to the green room.

Wouldn't the exact same red flags Dr's are finding this year have been there last year? It's not like this suddenly just came on or anything

I don't believe he was invited

That list of Green Room invitees is so small, I don't see anyone slipping far. Ross seems to have only potential to slip, but he may have some sort of promise if invited.

Of non-invitees, Perry Jones III could drop out of the lottery IMHO.

Oh ya. You know I was all over his jock until a day ago when i heard he only averaged 14 ppg in high school. Someone with that talent should be ashamed. To put it in perspective, I averaged slightly over 12 ppg in high school, and I was nowhere near college level talent

I think PJ III will either end up on a shitty team that doesn't draft well, or in the 20's

PJIII could be a steal with a late-teens pick. Kind of a Travis Outlaw kind of pick, with a higher ceiling.

With our complete lack of talent on this team outside of Aldridge and Batum, I'd say try to steal some picks later in the draft and go for guys with a high risk/high reward ceiling.

I think you have to if you're a team like Portland

Yeah, Sullinger has already done his slipping. Less than a month ago, draftexpress still had him going top 6. Now they have him at 19. Anyone know if he's hired an agent? If not, he should just go back to Ohio State for another year. He'll once again put up big numbers, and it's not like he's going to get any shorter. With another big season, and a much weaker draft class, he could easily be back in the top 10, maybe even top 5, in next year's draft.

Hasn't that deadline passed?

Yeah, you're right. They moved it up to late April this year. Even before then, it was 10 days prior to the draft (that actually gave players some idea where they would be picked before deciding to stay in the draft or go back to school). So, even under the old rules, it's too late.

In any case, Sullinger's timing could not have been worse. He would have gone much higher in both last year's and likely next year's drafts. By picking this year, he cost himself several million dollars.

I still don't understand this logic. Sullinger is slipping because of red flags from his pre draft physical. The same physical he would have been given last year

the small silver lining to that is that he's going to a team with more than one decent player, so he might be able to shine in a complimentary role and get the 2nd contract, vice someone who gets taken early and made the focus immediately, who then struggles. NOH at 10 might've been a good spot for him, but who knows how far he'll drop now. Thunder might be a decent landing spot.

I agree for the most part, but last year he didn't actually miss games with a bad back. Last year it would've been like DeJuan Blair part two...major red flags but you could say "he's never missed a practice with these problems". This year, you can't say that. Next year, you couldn't say that.

People might have been more willing to gamble in a weaker draft. This draft has so much depth, or perceived depth, that he's dropping like a rock.

Exactly! Last year wasn't just a weak draft, it was very short of quality bigs. This year's draft is much stronger, with many viable centers and power forwards. In most drafts, there is a huge shortage of big men. Demand greatly outstrips supply. This year, there are a ton (relatively) of 4s and 5s that will go in the first round. Probably not a lot of superstars, but a LOT of serviceable bigs to go around. So, Sullinger will get passed on due to all the red flags. He may have more upside than guys like Zeller, but he's also a higher risk.

Last year, there just weren't a lot of other options for teams looking for a big man. This year, there are.
