Melo's teams have never been sub .500, and they've been 50 game winners enough. He's proven to be a 30 PPG scorer (contender for scoring title) if the team asks him to.
There's more to the game than scoring, which is why he's never put up the PER that Roy did in 2008-09 and why his PER isn't much higher than Aldridge's (identical in 2008-09).
I think we all understand the fallacy of judging individual players by team records. But if you'd like to compare team records to determine who was better between Derrick Rose and Steve Blake last season, be my guest.
