Why don't I fear San Antonio?

You have literally doubted this team every step of the way this season, so I'm glad I don't have your "common sense."
The reverse jinx is strong with this one. Don't mess with a good thing. ;)

I think so long as Portland doesn't totally collapse on the penetration drive and get caught with our shorts down on the kick out we'll be ok. We defend the 3 ok we just can't buy into Harden 2.0 driving into the lane and flopping or dishing outside for open shots.

That is freaking awesome. The rare 'double flop'. No contact whatsoever, both guys go down like they were hit by a bull, and Ginobli goes to the line. I hate floppers.

I believe we can beat the Spurs, but I will say this: Regular season SA ain't playoff SA, and we're about to discover that fact.

I respect the Spurs. It would be stupid not to. They worry me. Best record in the league. Best coach. Best flopper. Most playoff experience. Home court advantage.

I'll just cross my fingers and toes and root on.

I fear the Spurs...part of the time. When the Spurs hit their high gear, like they did yesterday and like they did when the Blazers played them in SA in the game where LA got hurt, they're virtually unbeatable. The problem for them is that they don't hit that gear as often as they used to. Maybe it's age...of their Big Three, only Parker is still in his prime. They weren't able to bring that top-level game against the Mavericks until Game 7 and, when they don't play at that level, they're beatable. If the Blazers had home court advantage, I'd pick them to win it, but they don't and I think that slight edge will be all the Spurs need to advance. I REALLY hope the Blazers go in there and steal that advantage tomorrow night.

This is what worries me. I think we can play with them, but their D is much better in the playoffs. I expect a much different style series then what we saw with Houston. Much lower scoring. We can win that way too, but their team D is excellent. Especially on the perimeter.

You forgot about Tiago "Elite" Splitter. Haven't you heard he's quicker and a better defender than Dwight Howard? Surely, you've heard that his pick and roll offense is elite?

What I would have loved to see the refs call is a double technical. Fucking euro-flopping is killing this league.

We're going to see a team with terrific execution, which will be quite unlike we saw with Houston. We're going to have to play so much smarter than we did last round, because every mistake we make will be exploited by the Spurs.

If Wes can bother Manu like he did Harden most of the last series, I like our chances. I'd look to play Batum on Parker as well for long stretches and put Dame on their SF.

PapaG picks on you, and you always pick on Mediocre Man. Thus you could be eliminated and PapaG could pick on Mediocre Man. In algebra it's called the Transitive Property. In logic it's called a Hypothetical Syllogism.

Maybe everyone can simply stop picking on everyone else?

Kawhi will abuse Lillard if we do that.

Patty...Patty is the one that scares me. I think to win this series Mo needs to win that matchup....AND MO CAN'T TRY TO GUARD PATTY LIKE HE DID LIN. Patty is faster than Mo...give him room and wait for him to pick up his dribble BEFORE getting up in his dental work.

Interesting to see how poorly he's rebounded in all those games.

Also, Lillard averages 26ppg/6.6assists/61%TS over his career against the Spurs.

This series will see the roles kind of reverse from the last series. We've become the Rockets, and the Spurs have become us. Portland is coming into this with the two best players who are just dominating at their positions, and it's the Spurs who are the smarter, more cohesive team.

One very interesting point will be whether Lillard gets superstar treatment when he goes into the middle. The refs know his star is rising--his game winner was the highlight of the playoffs so far, his shoe contract, the whole Rockets series, the All-Star blitz--and the NBA probably isn't terribly interested in seeing the Spurs yet again in the WCF. You have to go back a long, long time (Drexler? maybe Pippen/Jazz?) to find a series where we are much more likely than our opponent to get the superstar calls.

Lillard averages a little over 5 FTA's/game over his career against the Spurs, but he averaged 8 FTA's in the first round. I'll be very interested to see how that plays out in game one of this series.

As a Blazer fan who has always considered superstar calls to be blatant cheating, I'm very eager for my team to finally benefit from the cheating.

WTF, I just posted something very similar to this on another thread.

And keep in mind that Portland will be the only team that will give Miami HCA in the finals.

I don't fear SA. I respect them. Best record, four titles, arguably best coach, how could I not?

I'm sure the Blazers respect them.

I still have a good feeling about this series. I don't know who will win but Portland is hardly going to be run out of town on a rail.

And when, coming of our greatest shot every, best playoff series in 14 years, a fan can only say negative, that's not respect, that's blinders.

THIS... TOTALLY THIS

If we win at least 1 of these first 2, I think Portland has a reasonable chance to win in 6. If we don't and stay on server ...i think we tighten up for game 3 and 4 and that could hurt a lot. I think we like this matchup...I know Robin has to. This is a series where we could do some high-flying at the rim too...LA, Nico, Trob, Dame, Rolo and Wes...we can attack that rim with or without Duncan in there. You take it hard and he backs away anymore these days.

If Wes can bother Manu like he did Harden most of the last series, I like our chances. I'd look to play Batum on Parker as well for long stretches and put Dame on their SF.

What I want to see is Wes and Nico pulling away when Manu generates contact. It completely frustrated Harden that he wasn't getting his calls on flops. If we can do the same with Ginobili, then we'll have negated a huge tool in Pop's arsenal.

You tell me that I don't have any common sense and then you play this card?

MM calls others silly and tells them they have no common sense and then he plays the victim card. Shocking! Gee, I could have never seen that coming...

BNM

Is that supposed to mean they think Dame will do poorly against Green?

That may be what dude from Sherwood (who I ref A LOT and they never are any good) thinks but watch how dame LIGHTS them up.

His "post" doesnt have common sense. You can't attack HIM. Mods?!!!! come on, where are you guys on this one...

fucking bitch ass mods

You must private message a mod for them to take action. They can't see every event, even though they try.

You don't fear them because you have no common sense

You truly suck as a poster in general... You try to disguise your blatant negativity as being a pragmatist... I can see right through it... go root for another team. Your schtick is tired and old like these Spurs....

Being sarcastic... because MM pulled that card earlier on me for fucking calling him "ridiculous".

The guy is a perpetual troll, just like his foregone avy

I agree bro, but I have faith the mods will sort it out. They are a good bunch. I bet we see a lot of "slypokerdog is a" changes! Hahahaha

The most notorious flopper is Lebron. Then Paul. Then Harden. Even Ginger Black Blake is a goddamn flopper. Manu is from ARGENTINA.... Jesus man WTF are you talking about?
