I think it's weird for me, because I grew up in a time where being black was cool. The late 90's was a time where hip hop was massively popular, and most of the kids at my school had baggie pants, and they wore things like Tommy Hilfiger and Helly Hanson, and the occasional FUBU.... which was hilarious. Michael Jordan was a god. Puff Daddy was a fashion icon. It was a mostly white school, but we had small group of black kids that were all popular. There weren't any unpopular black kids at my school. I never saw any racism. It was actually the opposite. So I guess it's hard for me to relate because black kids were widely accepted at my school. At the other end of the spectrum, my sister took dance at Jefferson. My mom would drive her over to Jeff every afternoon to do dance, and she experienced A LOT of racism towards her. One time she had kids throw rocks at her while she was waiting for my mom to pick her up.

So why would black kids be completely accepted in a mostly white school, but my sister would face blatant racism in a mostly black school? That's the part that doesn't make sense to me.

This is a privilege. They don't have to care. Like I've said to you before how does racism truly effect your life? You have the ability to turn a blind eye and not care if you don't want to deal with how we're treated. You can claim cognitive dissonance. I can't.

What do you do to help? You could stand with us if you wanted. You could stop marginalizing BLM as some racist movement. Lots of white people are involved. Are they apologists or activists?

As far as Jefferson, racism breeds itself. How could Israelis be so racist towards Palestinians after what they've been through? Germany learned for the most part. Those racist black people have PTSD.

I don't participate because I think there are bigger problems. Only 1,200 Americans were killed by police last year. That's including blacks, whites, etc. 1,200 people in a country of 319 million. That's just not a problem that deserves this much attention.

Focus on getting drugs legalized. That would take away a lot of the power that police have. That would get a lot of people out of jail. The war on drugs has created a lot of the issues that are troubling the black community.

Focus on getting people into office that aren't bought and paid for by big pharma and the banking industry. If we turn around our economy, people will be less likely to turn to crime because they won't be desperate.

Focus on improving our education system. Help get our kids into better jobs.

I just don't look at police brutality as being the root of the problem. We need to go above and beyond the police. Remove the politicians that are putting these cops in power. Change from the top down. Get out and vote. I see violent protests as a waste of time and energy. They only hurt your message.

Yup. I think our country has bigger problems than 1,200 people killed by police, and that's even assuming that they were all good people who were completely innocent.

There are 319 million people in this country. There are 1.1 million cops in this country. Not even a tenth of a percent of the police shot and killed someone last year.

The economy isn't a bigger problem..... nope.... that's not at all a problem. We didn't just go through a major recession.

Healthcare.... not a big problem that affects everyone.

Nope, the biggest problem right now is 1,200 people, half of which were white, getting killed by the police. In some cases because of legitimate reasons. That's definitely the top priority right now in this country. I'm not saying it's not a problem, but he asked why I'm not out protesting with BLM and honestly it's because to me there are much more impactful issues.
